Update: Google actually removed the review. Apparently, they felt it was not appropriate as well. 🤔

When I received this Google review, my first reaction was almost anger as it is one-sided.

But then I thought, what a great opportunity to point out some things that Hill Country Home Care does to ensure client care needs are met. 🤔🤗🙃

So here goes:

1. We do not allow Caregivers to send a text to miss work. Texts get missed and then clients are left without help. We require a Caregiver to call and speak to a person so we ensure shifts get covered. There are multiple contacts to notify if you can't make a shift. We all carry our phones with us.

2. Our call-in policy is to protect our clients. If you repeatedly miss your shift, especially short notice (like 20 minutes before you're scheduled to be there), then you will be removed from the shift and replaced.

3. Our clients do not sign up for our service because they are bored. They sign up because they NEED help. They NEED someone to show up at peak times to help them with a task they can no longer perform on their own. WE TAKE CARE OF PEOPLE. The expectation for you to SHOW UP isn't unrealistic.

4. The schedules are set by the clients and their needs. If you can't work the schedule they need, then that shift isn't for you. If you don't want to work weekends but the clients need help on the weekends ALSO, then that schedule isn't for you. "Picking your own schedule" may be a thing at other places but it doesn't work for what we do.

5. I am a Registered Nurse. I just happen to own this company. As a nurse, I am probably one of the most understanding people about illnesses and such. However, if your medical condition hinders your ability to assist clients safely and consistently, it is our obligation to re-evaluate this situation and make appropriate changes.

6. Our agency (or any employer) does not arrange medical leave. This is your responsibility as an employee. We have been in business almost 8 years now and had multiple employees out for weeks for surgeries or family emergencies or sometimes, just an extended break. These employees STILL work with us as they came to me and we talked through their time off. This ALSO ensures clients are not without help for extended periods.

7. Communication is EVERYTHING. But lack of communication isn't tolerated.

Google Reviews can be super helpful! They can also be one-sided and leave out so many details that are pertinent to deciding how you feel about a situation.
