Brownwood Municipal Development District Keep up with what is new in Brownwood, TX for business and community development.

The Brownwood Municipal Development District (BMDD) was created by voters in May of 2016. The Brownwood Municipal Development District is a non-profit organization that to promote, assist, stimulate, and enhance economic development in Brownwood. The BMDD is funded through a ½ cent sales tax and is governed by a 5-member Board of Directors who are appointed by the City Council. It is the mission of the BMDD to aid the City of Brownwood and interested private or public entities in making the community a better place to live, work and do business. In so doing, the MDD may help develop and finance any permissible project as defined in Chapter 377 of the Texas Local Government Code and that benefits, strengthens and diversifies the economic base of Brownwood.

The City of Brownwood in partnership with Brownwood Municipal Development District and the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce invite the community to a ribbon cutting for the Shops on Commerce on Tuesday, September 22 at 10:30 AM at 537 W. Commerce Street.

The Shops on Commerce development adds approximately 41,000 square feet of new retail space to Brownwood, expanding local shopping options and reflecting continued private investment along one of the community’s busiest commercial corridors.

Mayor Stephen Haynes will share remarks, followed by free snowcones and a photo booth to celebrate. We hope to see you there!
