Today our firemen along with mutual responders learned techniques to use our newly purchased Paratecs through levy money. Special thanks to Bates Recycling, Towing & Recovery for bringing us vehicles to use and to the voters of Preston County.

Company 3 responded to a single vehicle rollover on I68 at the 21.5 mm east bound. While enroute company 3 was advised of smoke showing from the engine compartment. Thanks to the addition of ECO CAF to Rescue 323 our personnel were able to shift from rescue to fire suppression and extinguish the fire with less than 10gallons of water. Thanks to Bruceton Community Ambulance Service and Preston County Sheriff's Office for the assist.

Update: all lanes are open. I68 westbound between the 19-20 mile post is one lane which is the emergency berm. Please use extreme caution.

We are proud to announce that we received a $30,000 grant today to replace our aging extrication tools from NextEra. This is not a political move on our behalf. It is strictly a financial decision that will enable our firefighters to use the most up to date equipment and will enable them to work faster to rescue someone from a wrecked vehicle. The tools are electric which will enable the firemen to work faster without a hydrolic hose attached. These tools may very well save a life because every minute counts.
We would have to have 20 dinners to maybe have enough to purchase these tools.
Our levy money for this year was used to purchase ParaTek equipment to replace our aging struts.

Today some of our members were on standby at an Anything that Floats event at Big Bear. Thanks to some members from Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department for the help.

After dropping off the trailer load of supplies at a distribution center in Weston, Assistant Chief Kent and his wife are helping with laundry at a mobile laundry and shower facility. Your donations were so appreciated.

Two trucks and trailers headed to lewis and Upsher counties. We are still accepting monetary donations and will direct them to the needed places. Thanks to everyone for the donations and Prodigi for taking a load along side our team. Just remember there are months of clean up and recovery ahead, so please keep everyone n your thoughts and prayers. You can also contact the donation centers to see about volunteering for clean up efforts.

Someone will be here for another hour to collect donations tonight. We will also be collecting tomorrow evening from 6-8pm. Feel free to drop donations off in the totes located outside the hall as well. Thank you everyone for your support!
