The Brunswick High School Social Justice Club is pleased to announce its partnership with Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services Brunswick Chapel to present A Raymond Young Production: “The Escape”—the story of the Underground Railroad, one of the most talked about musical stage productions in South Florida.

This production will take place on Sunday, February 25th at the Auditorium of Brunswick High School located at 3885 Altama Avenue in Brunswick, GA.

The doors will open at 2:30 PM, and the show will start promptly at 3:00 PM.

The Escape is a poignant, inspiring anthology of perseverance and determination by one of the most prominent women in African American History, Harriet Moses Tubman.

As we prepare to commemorate Black History Month: prepare to be amazed as Dedications Dance Academy masterfully transitions Brunswick High School into an institute of learning relevant to the African-American experience.

Tickets will be available for purchase both online and in person at the funeral home.

Ticket Sales from this event will be donated to the Brunswick High School Social Justice Club to help continue their efforts within the community.

It is with profound sadness, that we, The Management and Staff of Darien Funeral Home announce the passing of Ms. Lavonna Michelle Everson Drew, who was born Nov. 23, 1966, to the late Johnny Lee and Ophelia Everson. She was called to eternal rest on April 23, 2022.

A very bright child, Michelle attended Todd Grant Elementary School, where her father was a teacher. Michelle was a member of the McIntosh Academy graduating Class of 1984. One of the brightest in her class, Michelle graduated as salutatorian of her class. Michelle went on to earn a B.S. in mathematics from Georgia Southern University. Michelle first worked as a teacher in the McIntosh County School System, and then as a long-time educator in the Glynn County School System, where she was a teacher, assistant principal, and ultimately principal of Altama Elementary School. During this time, Michelle also earned an M.S. in Leadership and Administration in Education from Georgia Southern University and an Ed.S. from Walden University.
