At the end of life, the conversations change.

What rises to the surface isn’t perfection, productivity, or being “right.”

It’s forgiveness.

Forgiveness of others.

And, most tenderly, forgiveness of yourself.

I often remind people that forgiveness does not mean forgetting.

It doesn’t mean excusing harm or rebuilding bridges that aren’t safe or healthy.

Forgiveness is about letting go.

Letting go of the weight you were never meant to carry forever.

Letting go of the stories that keep you stuck in pain.

Letting go so peace has room to enter.

In the end, forgiveness isn’t something you give away.

It’s something you gift yourself. 🤍

I am grateful to be part of AARP’s article, “Doulas: The Support Caregivers May Need to Navigate Dementia.”

Sharing knowledge is how we normalize conversations around aging, dementia, and end-of-life care. I hope you’ll read and share to help reduce stigma and empower families to plan with intention.

It’s never too early to prepare, until it’s too late.

As the new year quickly approaches. Be reminded….

• “Be reminded that you don’t have to do this
alone.”
• “Be reminded that healing isn’t linear.”
• “Be reminded that showing up is enough.”
• “Be reminded that it’s okay to go slowly.”
• “Be reminded that you belong here.”
• “Be reminded that taking it day by day is
still progress.” 💜

Wishing you all a happy holiday season and a Merry Christmas.

I’ll be stepping away from Wi-Fi to spend some much-needed, meaningful time with my family; day by day, moment by moment.

May your holidays be filled with presence, connection, and what matters most.

Nothing feels worse than regret.

Your deathbed regrets won’t be about what you did.

They’ll be about the things you were about to do.

Think about what you’ve been postponing:

→ That skill you want to master
→ That business you keep planning
→ That trip you keep dreaming about
→ That change you keep promising yourself

Here’s the truth most people ignore:

– Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed
– Perfect timing doesn’t exist
– “Someday” means never
– Later becomes never

And while you wait:

→ Someone else starts
→ Someone else succeeds
→ Someone else takes your place
→ Someone else lives your dream

Time is the only currency you can’t earn back.
Once it’s spent, it’s gone.

So stop waiting for:

– More clarity
– Perfect conditions
– The “right” moment
– Someone’s permission

The best time was yesterday.

The next best time is now.

What dream are you finally ready to chase?

I remind my clients this often: none of us are here on accident.

Some days we forget that our being here isn’t random.

But purpose doesn’t disappear just because life gets heavy.

It waits… patiently… until we’re ready to notice it again.

Nudge, nudge.

Go find the thing that was always meant for you.

I’ve been quiet lately, and it’s time I explain why, not for sympathy, but because silence protects the very systems that are failing people every single day.

Since the beginning of October, my own health has taken a hit. I’m navigating endless symptoms, pain, inflammation, confusion, and exhaustion, all while trying to access care that feels just out of reach. The cruel irony?

To get adequate healthcare (even with insurance), you need money.

To make money, you need adequate health.

I have a direction for treatment, but the things that might actually help aren’t financially attainable right now. So I wait. I push through. I show up when I can. And like far too many people, I am being asked to “hold on” for 1–2 months before feeling any relief, like being the duck stuck in the much. Most days I’m barely keeping my head above water.

And here’s the truth:

I’m experiencing firsthand exactly what so many of my clients and families feel.

The overwhelm.

The frustration.

The sense that the system offers more BILLS than actual CARE.

The feeling of being unheard and under-supported in moments when clarity and compassion matter most.

This isn’t just my story, it’s a national story. It’s a Maine story. It’s a Midcoast story.

And it’s why end-of-life doulas, dementia care specialists, advocates, and community-based support are not luxuries. They are necessities in a system stretched beyond capacity.

So if you’ve noticed my quietness, on my page, in my work, and in my presence please know this:

I’m still here. I’m fighting.

Not just for myself, but for every person who has ever felt like they’re navigating illness or pain alone, or that the only thing they can rely on is their own resilience.

My health may be slowed right now, but my fire isn’t.

This experience is sharpening my advocacy, not dimming it. Simultaneously, I can’t deny my frustration.

I’ll be back with more strength, more clarity, and more determination to make sure no one; not my clients, not their families, not anyone in this community has to walk this path unsupported.

I show up for families in their hardest seasons. Now I’m showing up for myself, and for a future where care is accessible, humane, and worthy of the people it serve.

Happy Thanksgiving 💜

Today I’m grateful for the privilege of walking alongside individuals and families during some of life’s most sacred transitions.

Grateful for the conversations, the memories shared, the hands I’ve held, and the trust you place in me each day.

Whether today is full, quiet, joyful, complicated, or tender… I’m thinking of you.

May your moments be gentle, meaningful, and met with kindness.
