Some losses just feel bigger than others. And this one has taken me by surprise.💔

Dolly Parton was so much more than a voice, a songwriter, or a country music legend. She was goodness. She was humor and humility, rhinestones and grace, strength and softness all wrapped into one remarkable human being.

She came from so little and spent a lifetime giving so much.

She made people laugh. She made people feel seen. She gave millions of children books and the chance to dream a little bigger. She showed generations of women that you could be strong without becoming hard, successful without forgetting where you came from, and unapologetically yourself without needing anyone else’s permission.

There are celebrities we admire, and then there are people who somehow become part of the fabric of our lives.

Dolly was one of those people.

The world feels a little less sparkly today. ✨💔

Rest easy, Dolly. Thank you for the music, the laughter, the stories, the kindness, and for leaving this world so much better than you found it.

You’ve left one heck of a legacy. 🦋

At the end of life, the conversations change.

What rises to the surface isn’t perfection, productivity, or being “right.”

It’s forgiveness.

Forgiveness of others.

And, most tenderly, forgiveness of yourself.

I often remind people that forgiveness does not mean forgetting.

It doesn’t mean excusing harm or rebuilding bridges that aren’t safe or healthy.

Forgiveness is about letting go.

Letting go of the weight you were never meant to carry forever.

Letting go of the stories that keep you stuck in pain.

Letting go so peace has room to enter.

In the end, forgiveness isn’t something you give away.

It’s something you gift yourself. 🤍
