As you can see by the dates on my posts, I’m not fully committed to posting on my professional profile—or any profile, for that matter. I genuinely enjoy helping people find peace in the chaos of life through practical support. I know social media is one of the best ways to share that work, but the idea of marketing myself often shuts me down. It can feel inauthentic and uncomfortably self-promotional.
Still, I had a thought about why I’m good at what I do, and I wanted to share it here:
I love thinking about—and pursuing—what helps life feel more grounded and whole. For me, joy and peace come through love, grace, simplicity, and acceptance: simplifying what I expect of myself and accepting who I am; simplifying what I expect from life, other people, time, and energy, and accepting what is.
When we moved to Coastal Georgia, I was struggling. I had just lost my mom and felt shattered by the circumstances that forced our move. On the day we closed on our new house—a place that did not yet feel like home—I sat in the backyard, exhausted. I looked around and thought, “We just bought three majestic live oaks,” and for the first time in a long while, I felt peace.
Since then, we have come to realize that we are finally home. In every way, we found our perfect habitat. We live beneath the shade of those majestic giants, and they continue to shelter the life we love.
That is the heart of what I hope to offer others: practical support for finding peace, simplicity, and acceptance, so they can build a life they love and recognize the “live oaks” that make them feel at home.
