Livestock Exchange Market Report – September 3, 2026

Another strong week at Livestock Exchange with 879 head received, compared to 1,075 last week. A total of 105 cattle sold to 47 buyers.

Market Highlights:

Bulls: Yield Grade 1 brought $182.00–$190.50

Cows: Yield Grade 1 brought $185.00–$285.00

Heiferettes: $185.00–$285.00

Higher-yielding cows: $150.00–$176.00

Lower-yielding cows: $120.00–$149.00

Older/thinner cows: $90.00–$120.00

Springers: $2,400–$3,225

Livestock Exchange had a strong week with 1,075 head received, up from 746 the previous week. Cattle sold for 109 consignors to 57 buyers, showing solid participation on both sides of the market.

The August 27th market saw bulls bringing up to $204.00, while cows and heiferettes reached $250.00. Baby calves averaged approximately $1,056 per head, and bred cows and pairs continued to see strong demand, with solid pairs reaching $3,250–$4,500.

Looking ahead, we have several exciting sales and quality consignments coming through the ring. Thursday, September 3rd features a Combined Sale, followed by the Yearling Special on Friday, September 11th and additional feeder, yearling, and combined sales throughout September. Our next Hay Auction will be Saturday, September 19th.

Livestock Exchange has a strong lineup of cattle consigned for the Thursday, September 3rd Combined Sale. The sale begins with weigh cows and bulls at 9:00 AM, followed by Holstein springers at noon, baby calves at 12:45 PM, bred cows and pairs at 1:00 PM, and feeders/stockers to follow.

Highlights include 50 Holstein springers, a solid offering of weigh cows and bulls, baby calves and split pairs, plus several groups of bred cows and cow/calf pairs. The bred offering includes Red, Black, and mixed cows, with several groups bred to Black and Red Angus bulls.

The feeder and stocker lineup features red heifers weighing 850–950 lbs., 80 black bulls weighing 700–900 lbs., lighter black bulls, mixed heifers, and several groups of black and BWF steers and heifers, including cattle with vaccination and weaning programs.

There is a good variety of cattle represented across multiple classes, giving buyers plenty to look at throughout the day. Join us Thursday, September 3rd at Livestock Exchange for the Combined Sale!

Livestock Exchange had another strong week with 746 head sold for 117 consignors to 40 buyers on Thursday, August 20th.

The cow and bull market remained solid, with bulls reaching as high as $267.50 and cows and heiferettes topping at $267.50. Baby calves brought $950 to $1,400 per head.

Looking ahead, the Combined Sale is Thursday, August 27th, followed by a Yearling Special on Friday, September 11th, with several quality consignments already lined up. The next Hay Auction will be Saturday, September 19th.

Livestock Exchange is also now offering a receiving yard in Yuma, CO, with transportation available to the barn. And don’t forget—the new Livestock Exchange app is available on Google Play, making it easier to keep up with upcoming sales, consignments, market information, and announcements.

This Thursday’s Combined Sale features a strong selection of cattle, including 15 bred cows, several pairs, and 50 weaned Black bull calves weighing 350–400 lbs. The offering includes Red and mixed bred cows, with 10 mixed cows bred to Black Angus bulls, along with Red and Black pairs. Two Black pairs have heifer calves sired by Black Angus bulls and a complete vaccination program.

The sale begins with weigh cows and bulls at 9:00 AM, followed by baby calves at 12:45 PM, breds and pairs at 1:00 PM, and feeders and stockers to follow.
Edit: there will be 46 blk bulls weighing 350-400 not 50.

The August 15, 2026 Hay Auction brought a strong turnout to Livestock Exchange, with 3,600 bales offered by 96 consignors and 77 buyers participating.

The sale featured a wide variety of hay and forage, including alfalfa, grass, mixed hay, sorghum, millet, cornstalks, prairie hay, oats, and milo stalks. Alfalfa showed particularly strong demand, with prices reaching as high as $625 per ton, while mixed hay topped at $538.40 per ton. Grass hay reached $461 per ton, with quality and bale type contributing to a broad range of prices throughout the auction.

Overall, the sale demonstrated solid buyer participation and competitive bidding across a diverse offering of forage. We appreciate all of the consignors and buyers who helped make the August hay auction a success.

The next Hay Auction is scheduled for September 19, 2026.

🌾 HAY AUCTION — SATURDAY, AUGUST 15TH 🌾

Livestock Exchange has a large and diverse selection of hay and feed lined up for this Saturday’s Hay Auction. The sale begins at 10:00 AM in Brush, Colorado.

This week’s offering features a strong variety, including alfalfa, grass hay, Hi-Gest, millet, oats, cornstalks, milo stalks, prairie grass, irrigated grass, alfalfa/grass mixes, Golden German millet, sorghum/grass mix, and more. Several lots have feed-test information available, giving buyers additional information as they evaluate their feeding needs.

The sale includes everything from small-square alfalfa to 3x3 and 3x4 large squares, 4x4 bales, and round bales, along with several lots of bagged horse feed and mixed grain.

With multiple rows and a wide range of forage types, bale sizes, cuttings, and quality, there will be options for livestock producers, horse owners, and other hay buyers.
