Update, the squirrel got neutered. I'll sand one more time before leaving for the pineknot rally, but it's going to take a couple of more rounds of gel coat to get it decent.

I'm here for your Sunday entertainment. 1st patch went on well, but sagged more than I liked. I put a second patch on with a new batch of resin, but with wax added. The wax floats to the top and seals the resin from oxygen so the resin can fully cure. After the second patch, I still wanted another layer and added an additional patch with the same resin/wax mix. I didn't know if this was acceptable and had zero time to research as you have to work fast with this stuff in the heat, especially when you're not experienced. Well, apparently multiple layers with wax is a no no as the wax sometimes doesn't go through. Guess I'll find out tomorrow if it bonded.

Have a lot of kids or bikes? This is by far the strongest hitch I've ever made. The customer wanted a 500lb capacity, they got it! Edit: this is on a 24', dual axle, Discovery. The customer is aware of sway risks. The bike rack manufacturer requires a 500lbs capacity, but only rates the rack at 300lbs. Everyone take a deep breath!

I haven't had much time to mess with the squirrel, but I had a few minutes today to mess around. Just a little flap wheel work and it's already looking much better. I'm going to wait 3-4 weeks minimum for Temperatures to come down a little so working with the resin is a little easier, though that might be wishful thinking.

As the Dr. from Forrest Gump would say, "We sure got you straightened out, didn't we, boy?". Old hitch was welded to the bumper. These bumpers are sewer tube holders, nothing else. We cut off old hitch and stabilizers as they were partially attached to the old bumper. Then we straightened out the bumper, installed one of our frame mounted bumpers, and welded brackets to the frame for bolt on stabilizers.
