📬 ASCA Members: Watch Your Email Today!

Election Trust is emailing membership ballots today, October 20. Eligible voting members should check their inbox and spam or junk folders.

The ballot includes:
• Election of Tom Collins and Dan Sanderson to director terms ending in 2029.
• Proposed bylaws amendments allowing virtual and hybrid membership meetings, requiring at least two membership meetings per year beginning in 2027, and guaranteeing an in-person membership meeting at Nationals beginning in 2027.

Please read today’s ASCA email for the full announcement and links to the ballot instructions, proposed amendment text, and the Board’s letter explaining the bylaws issues and plan for moving forward.

All completed electronic and paper ballots must be received by Election Trust by November 19 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

Tomorrow is the deadline to submit your resume to be appointed to the Board vacancy!

Steve Shope has resigned from the ASCA Board of Directors. We thank Steve for his willingness to step forward and take on this role, and we wish him well.

ASCA is seeking resumes from members interested in filling the vacant Board position. The appointed Director will serve the remainder of Steve’s unexpired term (3 years).

Please submit your resume to the Executive Secretary at [email protected] by October 21, 2026.

Following the 30-day application period, the remaining Directors will select a candidate by majority vote at the next monthly Board meeting. All candidates will be notified in writing of the results.

We’re pleased to announce that Frank Butera has been hired as ASCA’s Website Administrator!

Frank brings more than 40 years of experience in the computer industry and a longtime connection to ASCA. Australian Shepherds have been part of his life for over 30 years, and he has been an ASCA member for just as long. Agility is his favorite activity to share with his dogs.

Frank currently serves on ASCA’s IT Committee and previously served on the Agility Committee. He enjoys putting his technical skills to work for ASCA, and we’re glad to welcome him to this new role.

Sunday is the last day to submit your bid to create the 2027 Nationals logo!

🎨 CALLING ALL ARTISTS! 🎨

The Australian Shepherd Club of America is accepting bids for the creation of the official logo for the 2027 ASCA National Specialty, which will be held September 17-24, 2027, at the Wyoming State Fairgrounds in Douglas, Wyoming.

We are looking for a memorable logo that captures the spirit of the Australian Shepherd and the National Specialty. The selected design will be featured on merchandise, awards, promotional materials, and other media.

The selected artist will be asked to provide:

🔹 Three initial logo concepts
🔹 Full-color version
🔹 One-color or black-and-white version
🔹 Reversed or negative one-color version
🔹 Line-drawing version, if appropriate
🔹 High-resolution JPEG, TIFF, and PDF files at 300 dpi
🔹 Revisions based on feedback from the 2027 Nationals Committee

If none of the three initial concepts is selected, the Committee may request up to two additional concepts.

Bids should include the artist’s proposed fee, samples or a portfolio of previous work, and confirmation that the artist can meet all design, format, and resolution requirements. The proposed fee should cover all concepts, revisions, and final versions described above.

ASCA will own full rights to the completed artwork and reserves the right to have additional illustrations created based on the artwork.

Friday is the last day to submit your resume to serve as the 2028 Nationals Chair!

📣 Applications are now open for the position of Chair of the 2028 ASCA National Specialty, which will be held September 6-12, 2028, at The Meadow Event Park in Doswell, Virginia.

The Nationals Chair provides overall leadership and oversight for the planning and ex*****on of the National Specialty. The Chair will work closely with the Nationals Event Coordinator, Nationals Task Force, Event Chairs, Accounting Chair, Business Office, and Board Liaison to ensure that planning remains organized and the event runs smoothly.

Responsibilities include guiding the overall planning process, helping develop and maintain the event budget, approving expenses, supporting Event Chairs, monitoring deadlines, maintaining communication with the Board of Directors, and helping resolve issues that arise during planning and at the event.

Applicants should have prior experience serving on an ASCA National Specialty Committee, a strong understanding of ASCA’s rules, policies, and procedures, and excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. A positive, team-oriented approach and a commitment to providing an enjoyable Nationals experience for exhibitors, volunteers, and attendees are also important.

Interested members should send a letter of interest and résumé to [email protected] no later than October 9, 2026. Application materials should outline the applicant’s ASCA involvement and experience organizing ASCA events, with particular emphasis on any previous involvement in ASCA Nationals.

Applicants do not need to live in Virginia to be considered for the position.

Please join us in congratulating the 2026 Cee Hambo Scholarship recipients: Emily Jossi, Rowan Scholl, and Rylee Carlon! Each will receive a $500 scholarship, paid directly to her school, to support her continuing education.

The ASCA Foundation’s Cee Hambo Scholarship supports individuals with a background in Australian Shepherds who are pursuing education beyond high school. This year’s recipients share a love for the breed and a desire to put their experiences and education to good use.

Emily Jossi has been involved in ASCA since age 11 and has developed a love of dog sports through her partnerships with Spade and Tripp. As she continues her education, she also hopes to become an Obedience and Rally Judge and encourage other Juniors to find the same joy she has found working with her dogs.

Rowan Scholl plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree with the goal of becoming an agricultural education teacher. Her partnership with Asher has helped her build confidence, patience, and adaptability. Drawing on her experiences in 4-H and FFA, Rowan hopes to help students discover opportunities in agriculture.

Rylee Carlon is pursuing her MBA after graduating with honors with a degree in dental hygiene. She looks forward to applying her business education to her professional career and to supporting the Australian Shepherd community through Club operations, event planning, and breed education.

Thank you to the Cee Hambo Scholarship Selection Committee for its work reviewing the applications and recommending this year’s recipients. Congratulations to Emily, Rowan, and Rylee as they continue their education!
