I finished my blocks for the Saturday Sampler class last night. I sure hope I get better at these flying geese by the time this class is done. I used two different sewing machines. My advice for the day: use the same sewing machine for the whole project.

I took a little break from customer quilting today to work on my embroidery machine, cooking chicken piccata and a little cleaning. Now back to quilting!

Every now and then I get something done for myself. It took a few weeks, but I actually have it done early for Easter. Now to finish the 4th of July banner I started last year before this 4th of July would be great. I currently have 26 quilts for customers...I better get busy on those first!

I used to quilt in the basement of our old house. I so appreciate seeing outside now, even on a day like today. It is beautiful from inside the warmth of my home!

Is your New Year's resolution to learn a new skill? Sign up for a Beginner Quilt Making Class at the Sauder Village Quilt Shop!

This is the perfect class for the aspiring quilt-maker.

The Beginner Quilt Making Class is broken into three sessions and each session focuses only on one part of the quilt making process. All three sessions are required! Prior to Session 1, participants will need to purchase the Invasion pattern and fabric. Class is taught by Quilt Shop staff in our classroom.

Sessions are January 31; February 14; February 28, 10:30am to 1pm!

Session 1 focuses on proper rotary cutting skills and accurate cutting of fabric.
Session 2 focuses on sewing with an accurate ¼” seam and piecing blocks.
Session 3 focuses on sewing blocks into rows and accurate methods for measuring and attaching borders.

If you are ready to make your first quilt, we are ready to help you. We look forward to having you start your journey as a quilt-maker!

Stockings are hung...now to clean and decorate the rest of the house. Tomorrow is cookie baking day with the family so maybe Monday is mess up, clean and decorate the house day. It may take the rest of the week to decorate the tree once it's up!

I started making stockings for the grandkids last year and then decided I needed them for everyone. Christmas came and went without them. Now I'm determined and decided to make my mom one too. Two down, twelve to go! I'm not happy with the red lettering on the red fabric, but you can see it up close so I'm not changing it. I'll get them finished and then figure out how to hang them all!

I'm working on my last customer "for Christmas" quilt. I want to let my customers know that I get a lot of quilts this time of year; I had 28 on my list in November and now I'm down to 6. If you have a quilt with a deadline like a birthday or baby shower, just let me know. I can adjust the order that I quilt in. I have some very patient customers who give me plenty of time before they need their quilts. If you happen to have something that needs quilted immediately, just be sure to tell me when you drop it off. I always try to meet my deadlines and unless something happens beyond my control, I always will! With all this snow, it's a great time to sit in a cozy chair with a nice warm quilt and bind it!
