We are saddened to hear of the passing of Honorary Member Ronald Laino. Ron was the Chief of Police of the Village of Buchanan for years, before retiring to North Carolina. Our thoughts are with his family.

We'd like to congratulate Firefighter Brady Bayer on graduating Firefighter I. Brady began volunteering with us as an Explorer a few years ago, and he is the son of Deputy Chief Stu Bayer. Congrats, Brady!

We would like to congratulate Firefighter Gabe Capicotto on his graduation from the U.S. Air Force Academy, and his subsequent commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force.

Earlier today, we responded to the Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary School for a fire alarm. While the investigation did not turn up anything, upon a second alarm, it was discovered that an electrical battery box short circuited, causing a smoke condition and a strong odor of burning in the school. There is no damage to the school.

Thank you to the Montrose Fire District and the Verplanck Fire District for the assist.

Today, some of our members visited life member Robert Stein at his house today to visit for his 98th Birthday. Bob Stein is a 76 year member of our department.
