Earlier today, we responded to the Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary School for a fire alarm. While the investigation did not turn up anything, upon a second alarm, it was discovered that an electrical battery box short circuited, causing a smoke condition and a strong odor of burning in the school. There is no damage to the school.

Thank you to the Montrose Fire District and the Verplanck Fire District for the assist.

Today, some of our members visited life member Robert Stein at his house today to visit for his 98th Birthday. Bob Stein is a 76 year member of our department.

Flag Disposal

Please note that we do not accept flags for disposal. The American Legion has a box in front of the Montrose Firehouse that accepts American flags, and we recommend dropping them off there.

Biannual Awards Brunch

Today, we held an awards brunch to recognize those members who have gone above and beyond, as well as those who have reached milestone years of service.

In addition to our usual awards, this is the first time in our company's history someone has reached 75 years of membership. Robert "Bobby" Stein has been a member of our company since 1950, and is one of the most beloved lifelone residents of our village. Congratulations, Bobby!
