When servicing your own ro system and you replace your membrane,
be sure to replace the flow restrictor. The membrane and flow restrictor work together. If you have the wrong flow restrictor with the membrane, you will get poor quality water or low flow.

Did you know that pellet salt and softener crystals are designed for different types of softeners.
Pellets are for softeners that don't have water sitting in the salt tank all the time. They dissolve fast so they should not sit in water.
Softener crystals are for softeners that always have water in them. They dissolve slowly so they need to sit in water before use.
If you use pellet salt in softeners that need crystal salt, eventually it will gum up the float and your softener will not work correctly.

Just a reminder about what type of salt you should use in your water softener:
Pellets are for softeners that the salt tank is dry until it is time to regenerate.
Softener crystals are for softeners that always have some water in the salt tank.

Did you know if your salt tank always has water in it you should use solar salt or coarse salt. If your salt tank does not always have water in it then you should use pellet salt.
