A sign can look great the day it goes up. The real test is what it looks like a few Texas summers later.
Over time, different materials start to show their age. Colors fade from constant sun exposure. Some panels begin to warp from heat cycles. Edges loosen. Finishes that once looked sharp start to dull out.
Not every sign ages the same way. Higher-quality materials tend to hold their color and shape longer, while others show wear much sooner. And once that wear starts, it usually doesn’t stay small.
That’s where the decision comes in. Sometimes a simple repair or refresh can extend the life of a sign. Other times, continuing to patch it ends up costing more than replacing it with something built to last.
A good sign isn’t just about how it looks on day one. It’s about how it performs year after year.
What’s the oldest sign you’ve seen still holding up well?
