🎃 1 day away from Halloween! I would like to share some safety tips with you. 👻
To ensure Halloween pedestrian safety for kids, they should stay visible by using reflective tape, glow sticks, and flashlights, and follow traffic rules like crossing at corners, using crosswalks, and walking on sidewalks. It's also crucial to remain alert, avoid distractions like phones, and never dart into the street or cross between parked cars.
Choose safe costumes:
Select a costume that fits well and doesn't have long, trailing fabric to prevent tripping. Opt for face paint over a mask that could obstruct vision.
Increase visibility: Equip your child's costume with reflective tape or stickers. Carry glow sticks and flashlights to make them more visible in the dark.
Stay on sidewalks: Walk on sidewalks whenever possible. If there are no sidewalks, walk on the shoulder facing oncoming traffic, as far to the left as possible.
During trick-or-treating:
Cross safely: Cross the street only at corners and crosswalks. Look left, right, and left again before and while crossing, and make eye contact with drivers to ensure they see you.
Walk, don't run: Encourage children to walk, not run, across the street.
Stay alert: Put electronic devices away and stay focused on the surroundings.
Go in groups: Children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult. Older kids should travel in groups.
Stick to a plan: Plan your route in advance and stick to familiar, well-lit areas.
Important reminders:
Never assume right-of-way: Always assume drivers don't see you and will not stop.
Avoid dangerous areas: Do not cross between parked cars or dart into the street.
Keep it fun: Remember that Halloween is supposed to be fun. Taking these precautions helps ensure that everyone stays safe and has a great time.
We wish you all a safe and Happy Halloween! 🎃 👻 🎃
