Kiyoshi Kuromiya was a Japanese American writer and civil rights activist. He was also an anti-war advocate and fought for LGBTQ+ rights. Kuromiya not only cofounded the Gay Liberation Front in Philadelphia, but was also a part of ACT UP, which helped to provide vital resources to those living with HIV at a time when information was not readily available. Throughout his life, he fought for those facing discrimination and was involved in a Supreme Court lawsuit that protected access to HIV related information online for those seeking support and assistance.

Larry Itliong was a labor organizer and activist who emigrated from the Philippines to the U. S with the hopes of becoming an attorney. The immense challenges he faced due to his status as a Filipino American spurred his activism. In 1965, in partnership with the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee, Itliong moved to California to help organize Filipino grape workers. The Delano Grape Strikes lasted five years and resulted in more than thirty growers agreeing to pay increases, medical insurance plans, and reducing toxic pesticides.
