Opening soon: The Nickel Plate is a restaurant with artisan vendor market featuring local food and crafts. Shop and eat in one gorgeous space! This is big progress for revitalizing the Clinton Bailey Community.

Plans call for a 5,200-square-foot artisan market with products from 125 vendors, a 1,200-square-foot restaurant and a bar.

The East Side Avenues Commercial Building Stabilization Fund is doing great things for East Buffalo. An award for roofing stabilization has allowed us to continue our mission of rehabilitating new second floor spaces for artists, creatives, and eclectic businesses. Huge thanks to Preservation Buffalo Niagara and the UB Regional Institute for coordinating all the programs. Much of the produce, dairy, and meat that was sold in early 1900’s Buffalo was shipped to the or brought in from regional farmers. Merchants had to be early risers - the market opened before dawn and the day was done by early afternoon.

In its heyday, the Niagara Frontier Food Terminal was a bustling center for vendors of all kinds. Matt Wattles, the fourth generation of his family to work at the site, hopes to bring it back.
