This past fall I bought a pink Scottish lambs wool sweater (please do not judge me for my fashion sense), while doing some work in the yard I snagged it on a baron tree branch, it of course developed a hole. What should I do with my new sweater? Toss it, try to mend/ patch it or was there a better option?
That lead me to “Without a Trace” a company in Chicago with over 30 years’ experience in the lost arts of French re-weaving. One of maybe four companies that can do this type of job. The below is from there website:
“Any garment can be ruined by even the smallest of rips, holes, moth holes or burns. Patching or sewing over the damaged area has never been a concealed repair, leaving the garment destroyed because of it’s obvious patch.
If your garment is of superior quality or you have a heirloom piece that needs mending, consider the only true repair alternative for your valuable clothing: reweaving.”
They did a great job. You cannot tell my sweater had been repaired. Next time you have a customer distraught over moth hole or snag you might want to give them the option of repair.

"To put the logistics problem into perspective, there are 70 ships outside of the LA/Long Beach port, waiting on the 30 vessels in the port being worked at this time. Each vessel carries 3,942 40ft container equivalents discharging just into LA/Long Beach. This means there are 394,200 containers waiting to discharge into LA/Long Beach. If you stretch these containers out end-to-end, the line of containers would span 2,986 miles. Part of the back-up and delays in offloading is a shortage of people and trucks due to COVID."
