This Member Monday, we're introducing someone who has spent decades not only serving customers, but serving her community.

Meet Penny with OMB Bank!

Penny brings more than 40 years of banking experience to her work, including 22 years in mortgage lending. One of the things she appreciates most about OMB is the ability to make decisions at the local level...and the positive impact that local decision making can have right here in the Buffalo community.

She's also passionate about sharing what she's learned along the way and enjoys mentoring the next generation of bankers.

But if you know Penny, you know her involvement in Buffalo extends far beyond the bank.

She gives her time to several community organizations, including Rotary and BABNG, serves on the board of The Bright Beacon, and somehow still finds time for quilting and fostering kittens. (Which, she has two available for adoption, if anyone is interested 👀)

Penny is one of those people who genuinely cares about the community she lives and works in, and we're incredibly lucky to have her as part of BABNG.

The first Thursday of the month means Roundtable at BABNG; a chance to catch up on internal group business, share what’s happening in our professional businesses, and celebrate what our members have been working on.

And there was plenty to talk about this week!

🍷 3 Moons Vineyard & Tasting Room has been busy...with 88 cases of wine currently bottled!

🍡 Bountiful Bites is working alongside the YMCA on upcoming community projects, including Senior Prom and The Bright Beacon.

🏦 OMB is growing, with Penny recently bringing on a new part-time employee at the bank.

In August, we had a total of 75 Get Togethers, 25 Referrals, and 8 Closed Deals!

These may seem like little updates around a meeting table, but they're some of our favorite things to hear. Local businesses are growing, collaborating, and getting involved in the community are all signs of a stronger Buffalo.

Meet Nikki, owner of Studio 23 , where it really is never too late, or too early, to learn something new 🎶

Nikki has been teaching music since she was 13 years old, and this year marks her 26th year of teaching! On September 5th, Studio 23 will also celebrate its 4th anniversary.

Today, Nikki works with 72 students, with about 5 more currently on her waiting list. And her students range anywhere in age from 5 to 80 years old!

At Studio 23, Nikki teaches a variety of instruments, including piano, guitar, violin/fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and more. And the studio isn't the only place Nikki is sharing her love of music. She is also beginning her second year teaching musical instrumentation at Southwest Christian Academy.

From her youngest students picking up an instrument for the first time to adults finally learning something they've always wanted to try, Nikki has built a business around helping people make music—and we're proud to have her as part of BABNG

Here's to 26 years of teaching, 4 years of Studio 23, and many more students discovering their own love of music! 🎶

DC Mercantile, owned by James Richey and his wife, is a local liquidation company offering a wide variety of products from multiple suppliers, including a large selection of Amazon returns. From tools and home goods to everyday essentials, DC Mercantile focuses on providing good-quality products at affordable prices.

After spending much of his working life outside the community, James says it’s especially meaningful to now have the opportunity to serve the people right here at home.

That’s what local business is about: finding ways to meet the needs of the community and making it a little easier for people to find what they need.
