This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Dan, an insurance agent with HealthMarkets and an active member of the Buffalo business community!

Dan helps individuals and families navigate their health insurance options, working to make an often complicated process a little easier to understand. And with open enrollment season underway, he’s certainly keeping busy! 📋

But Dan’s involvement doesn’t stop with insurance. He’s also a farmer and dedicates his time to several community organizations and initiatives, including Rotary and local committee work.

Whether he’s helping someone explore their insurance options, working on the farm, or getting involved in community projects, Dan wears quite a few hats!

We’re grateful to have someone so involved in our community as part of BABNG.

This week’s Member Monday spotlight is shining on Hollie Hilburn, Membership Director at the Dallas County Area YMCA!

As Membership Director, Hollie helps connect individuals and families with the programs, resources, and opportunities available through the YMCA. Her work helps people discover everything the organization has to offer, from health and wellness to opportunities for connection and personal growth.

But Hollie’s community involvement doesn’t stop at the YMCA! She’s also active in a variety of local activities and projects, dedicating her time to supporting the people and organizations that make Buffalo special.

And when she’s not busy with work or community projects, Hollie has a special place in her heart for French Bulldogs! 🐾💛

We’re happy to have Hollie as part of BABNG and love seeing the connections she helps build throughout our community!

This week, we're shining the spotlight on Sam Byler, owner of Byler's Home Services LLC!

Sam's journey started in Ohio, where he was working in the trades when he took on a roofing job and discovered just how much he enjoyed it. What started with that one job turned into a business that's now celebrating 10 years!

After five years of running his business in Ohio, Sam made the move to Missouri, where he's spent the last five years continuing to grow Byler's Home Services.

One of the things Sam appreciates most about Missouri is the people. From customer referrals to neighbors willing to help a local business succeed, he's found a community that genuinely supports one another.

And what does he love most about roofing? The transformation! In just two or three days, a new roof can completely change the appearance of a home. For Sam, there's nothing quite like seeing how happy homeowners are when they see the finished result.

When he's not working, you'll probably find Sam enjoying the outdoors! He's an avid hunter, especially when it comes to turkey hunting, and still makes trips back to Ohio to hunt and fish.

We're proud to have Sam and Byler's Home Services as part of BABNG, and we love seeing local businesses grow alongside the communities they serve!

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and this week we’re highlighting The Bright Beacon and their efforts to raise awareness and encourage community support.

There are a couple of ways you can get involved this month!

💜 Wear Purple — October 15

Show your support by wearing purple, snapping a picture, and sharing it on Facebook! Be sure to tag The Bright Beacon so they can see our community coming together.

The Bright Beacon is also encouraging local businesses and community members to display awareness posters in their windows throughout October.

Those who participate will have a chance to win a charcuterie board from Bountiful Bites, a fellow BABNG member!

🦬 IT’S BUSINESS BRUNCH DAY! 🥐☕

The food is out, the coffee is ready, and we’re getting ready for a great morning of good food, good conversation, and local connections!

A huge thank you to Kassie with Bountiful Bites for putting together this incredible brunch spread for us. 😍 From muffins and fresh fruit to croissants and caramel apple strudel bites…we’re certainly not networking hungry today. 😂

One of our favorite things about BABNG is creating opportunities for local business owners and professionals to get together outside of our regular weekly meetings, make new connections, share ideas, and get to know the people behind the businesses in our community.

We’re excited to spend the morning around the table together! 🦬💛

Good food has a way of bringing people together. This Member Monday, we'd like to introduce Kassie with Bountiful Bites, and that's what she does best!

For the past two and a half years, Kassie has been building Bountiful Bites through custom charcuterie, catering, referrals, word of mouth, and a whole lot of support from the community she loves being part of!

And community really is a big part of who Kassie is.

One of her favorite things about owning a small business is getting to support and work alongside other local businesses and organizations. Recently, that’s included working with the YMCA for their Senior Prom and supporting Bright Beacon’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month campaign, with Bountiful Bites providing a charcuterie board for the campaign drawing.

Outside of Bountiful Bites, Kassie stays plenty busy. She and her family live on 40 acres, homeschool, and share the place with a few farm animals and three dogs. She loves good food (fortunately 😂), traveling, getting involved in the community, and finding ways for small businesses to work together rather than separately.

That same spirit is something Kassie brings to BABNG. She’s one of those people who is quick to support an idea, encourage the people around her, and genuinely wants to see our local businesses and community grow.

We’re incredibly glad to have Kassie and Bountiful Bites around our table.

We’ve got a new face around the table! 🎉

Please help us welcome Collin Crouch with Southwest Christian Academy as the newest member of the Buffalo Area Business Networking Group!

Collin has been joining us for meetings over the past several weeks, getting to know our members and seeing what BABNG is all about. Now, we’re excited to officially welcome him and Southwest Christian Academy (a local private Christian school serving students and families in our community) to the group.

One of our favorite things about growing BABNG is bringing more industries, organizations, and perspectives around the same table. We’re excited to learn more about Collin and Southwest Christian Academy...and to see the connections and opportunities that come from having them as part of the group.

If you've ever met Michael, you already know there's a pretty good chance a conversation about estate planning will somehow involve a movie reference.

This Monday, we'd like you to meet Michael Glassford - Trust and Business Lawyer from Legal Ink Estate Planning!

Michael began his legal career practicing divorce law before eventually making the move into business and estate planning, where he now helps people prepare for the future and make sure the things, and people, that matter to them are protected.

But being an attorney is only one part of Michael's story.

He's also a published author with multiple books to his name, and an enthusiastic fan of just about every fictional universe you can name. Harry Potter, Doctor Who, The Lord of the Rings, Back to the Future...if there's a reference to be made, Michael will probably find a way to work it into the conversation. 😂

And apparently enjoying fictional worlds wasn't enough, because Michael and his wife have been busy building one of their own.

Their property, appropriately named Starford Shire, is also home to some upcoming events including (but not limited to) the Feast of the Fellowship on October 3rd!

Michael's passion for connection extends beyond BABNG, too. He also runs a networking group in Utah and has shared some of that experience with our own members through BABNG training sessions! He's challenged us all to make our introductions more interesting, memorable, and worth listening to. We hope we're living up to the challenge!

Whether he's helping someone plan their estate, writing his next story, teaching business owners how to make an impression, or making yet another movie reference, Michael brings plenty of knowledge—and personality—to the table.

We're glad to have Michael and Legal Ink as part of BABNG.

The restaurant where they already know your order. The contractor you recommend every time someone asks. The shop you check first before heading out of town. The person you call because you know they’ll take care of you.

That’s one of the things that makes shopping and doing business locally different: relationships matter.

Behind every local business is a person, family, team, or story; and every recommendation, review, share, and return visit helps keep those businesses growing right here in our community.

From serving in the U.S. Navy to tending grapevines in the Ozarks, Logan Brethower has had a pretty interesting journey to becoming part of one of Buffalo's local family businesses. 🍷

Meet Logan from Three Moons Vineyard & Tasting Room!

Three Moons began in 2013 as a retirement project for Logan's parents, Larry and Paula. Logan joined them in 2017, and today the three work together to keep the family vineyard growing.

They weren't born into generations of winemaking knowledge, either. The Brethowers learned from mentors around the country and brought that knowledge home to the Ozarks...where their very first planting was washed out the same day it went into the ground, followed by an entire year of drought.

Thankfully, they're stubborn. 😂 And we love them for it!

Today, the vineyard has around 1,000 healthy vines, produces its own locally made wines, and recently had 88 cases in production!

But Three Moons has another story growing underneath those vines.

The vineyard sits on land that was once part of a small community called Burtonville, and the family has preserved pieces of that local history, including the former postmaster's delivery bicycle and an old pump. Even their dog gets in on the history! Jack Burton gets part of his name from the former town.

As for Logan himself, he's a retired U.S. Navy veteran, a Star Wars fan, and someone who has found vineyard work to be a surprisingly therapeutic change of pace. He especially enjoys the work of tending the vines and watching something carefully cared for eventually become a finished bottle.

And if a deer or raccoon gets to the grapes before they do? Even those don't necessarily go to waste; they've found a second life as fresh jelly.

We're proud to have Logan and Three Moons as part of BABNG and love getting to share the people—and stories—behind the businesses in our community.
