Run, Hide Fight. The basic survival techniques for an active shooter, but also applicable for almost any threat, including violence against women.

Detect and avoid threats if possible by practicing situational awareness and listening to your instincts. If that doesn't work, use what you can to remove yourself from the scenario. If there is no other option, fight like your life depends on it, because it might. And never, never, never give up. You CAN outpace the threat.

Anything can be used as a weapon, especially when you target soft flesh/vulnerable areas, even a baby spoon. Learn more about how to outpace the threat by attending a future class or setting up a private one for you and your gal pals.

Thanks as always to the wonderful host, co-collaborator and "attacker" James Murphy Criminal Justice Professionals Training and Consulting, LLC. for teaming up for a combo Intro to Pistol/Women Empowerment class. And to Michael Macris for capturing the magic.

Women Empowerment I and II AND Intro to Pistol (start your concealed carry journey!) this Saturday, January 10th. Please share with any women in your life and PM me to register.

EVERY woman has a story. The common denominator in every Women Empowerment and Self-Defense (WESD) class I teach are the survival stories women share. EVERY woman has feared and continues to fear for her safety. EVERY woman is concerned about the safety of her friends, mother, sisters, daughters or granddaughters.

But EVERY woman has the innate ability to protect herself and even possibly avoid a violent incident. Learn how to use your gut instincts, voice, eyes and most powerful body parts to protect yourself.

Start 2026 off with intention by signing up for Women Empowerment and Self-Defence classes. There is still space for this Saturday, January 10th for Class 1, Class 2 and/or Intro to Pistol at the Criminal Justice Professionals Training and Consulting, LLC. You can take all or just one of them. Each class is $40 or two for $75. Sign up via Venmo or via edgygazelleconsulting@gmail.

10:00 Intro to Pistol
11:30 Women Empowerment and Self-Defense 1
2:00 Women Empowerment and Self-Defense 2

Final Day of the 12 Vulnerable Situations Women Experience series. Learn to navigate and counteract potential vulnerabilities.

It gets dark early and returning home at night can be a vulnerable scenario for women. My friend Kate experienced exactly this. Hear her story! She had recently taken my Women Empowerment and Self Defense class and decided instantaneously that she was NOT going to be a victim. She trusted her instincts, used what she had (her car) and avoided a carjacking and possibly worse.

You can do the same. Sign up for a class, watch the video and outpace the threat!

Day 11 of the 12 Vulnerable Situations Women Experience series. Learn to navigate and counteract potential vulnerabilities.

During the holidays, bars are festive but they can also be high risk environments for women. Why? Crowds, strangers, alcohol and lowered awareness. Is someone buying you a drink? Isolating you from your friends? Does something feel "not quite right"? If so, listen to your instinct. It's not "overthinking" - it's your intuition noticing a change.

Here's your countermeasures to outpace the threat:
*Watch your drink being poured/made and keep it in your eyesight at all times.
*Stay connected to a trusted person while out.
*Have your ride lined up.
*Do NOT feel obligated to do anything if someone buys you a drink. You never owe politeness over your security.

Day 9 of the 12 Vulnerable Situations Women Experience series. Learn to navigate and counteract potential vulnerabilities.

Let's talk about and often overlooked vulnerable place for women - elevators. A confined space where when the doors close, your ability to exit drops to 0%.

Pre-incident indicators include:
*Someone watching you.
*Someone changing direction after spotting you.
*Someone blocking the elevator's control panel.
*Someone standing too close (without good reason)

If something feels off, TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS and don't get on the elevator. Your intuition is your body's way of keeping you safe. Listen to it. Your security is paramount. You do not need to be "nice", or polite, or fear the awkwardness. Protect yourself and outpace the threat.

Danger looks for transition and distraction - like while at gas stations (also one of the places I hate the most). Scan the area for anyone watching you, approaching too fast, asking for info/help. Lock your doors while pumping gas. Outpace the threat.
