Louisiana license plates have carried the same nickname for decades, Sportsman's Paradise, and anybody who's spent a morning on the water here knows it's not just a marketing line.

Between the bayous, marshes, and lakes, there's more water in parts of this state than there is road, and the hunting and fishing culture here runs as deep as the water itself.

It's a nickname that actually means something, which is rare.
