We are working with the Wine Country Film Festival to put on a charity event to raise money and awareness for those that are suffering and sadly will continue to suffer long after the fires and natural disasters have passed from the headlines.

But we need your help. Specifically in raising the spirits and hopes for the impacted communities.

In the coming days we will be launching with ArtistArmor and Nappa Wine Country Film Festival a website that will provide on going information and schedule of upcoming events and with ways to contribute.

Our Agency has received a number of solicitations both from ArtistArmor.com (our preferred method), e-mail, letters and phone calls. We have said this numerous times - KNOW THE AGENCY YOU ARE CALLING.

We appreciate that many people simply go down a list provided to them by a book, school, or union. That is fine, but do yourselves a small favor and actually look up the agency before you reach out. It isn't difficult, most of you have access to the Internet and can simply browse the Agency.

When we get a call or random mail solicitation and the potential client has no clue who they are speaking with we are immediately turned off. Laziness is unacceptable in this or any business and it tells us what type of client you would be. i.e. Somebody we don't want to work with!

Also, when approaching an Agency you need to have EPK (if you don't know what that it is its an Electronic Press Kit). Something polished that tells us who you are and what you are about and your work (Your ArtistArmor profile or online resume).

We do accept queries via ArtistArmor.com a FREE SERVICE. That does not mean we will be responding to all queries. Many potential clients do not have the background we require. BUT being part of ArtistArmor will possibly make you more desirable through the services ArtistArmor provides. Do not hesitate to requery us if you feel your talent has exceptional quality we should pay attention to.

The summer is drawing down and we have heard great things from our Clients who have really taken advantage of the summer to fine tune their craft, polish the screenplay, and get out and network. Amazing things have been done and we are proud of those Clients that went the extra mile and have profited from their efforts.

It should be noted that if you have an Agency - you the Client are responsible for that relationship as well as the Agency. It is not always one sided. We are constantly amazed that when some Clients feel that since they have an Agent they are done with the networking etc. If you have read any of our posts you will realize that this is a collaborative effort. The Agency is working for you and you need to be out there and letting your Representation know what you are doing and how they can help.

For those GTA'ers and those that want to be part of the GTA family it is extremely important that you stay in contact so that we know what you are doing and how your Agency can provide you assistance.

We at Global Talent Agency wish to extend to all of our Clients and Followers a safe and fun 4th of July.

During this time of fun and enjoyment we wanted our audience to think about your career and what you are doing to actively promote yourself and your work.

It is the time for those of you that want to stay in the background and just be "creative" to understand that the old school thinking no longer applies in this new age. Yes, you can have a "team" but understand that team may not be on the same page as you and that you need to actively move your career forward. Another thing to think about is that you no longer need to be in an creative capital (such as London, Sydney, LA or NYC). The Internet has opened the door, but with that open door comes danger and as always just like 4th of July celebrations we encourage all to be safe and that means always use Artist Armor at https://www.artistarmor.com

For more information we suggest you visit their page at artistarmor.com

We would like to pass along a success story from Artist Armor at https://www.artistarmor.com.

One of their Members who was working on a Free Student Project used ArtistArmor to invite his potential production team to discuss the project. The Members production team consisted of five "friends" all going to work together. When one "friend" declined working through Artist Armor. This signaled a bad message to the rest of the team and that "friend" was not included in the project.

Within the Artist Armor community a replacement was found and the project is now happily on the fast track.

We, at GTA, have been saying this for a long time to anybody that will listen - BE SAFE. Your "friends" in the business are in business to get ahead and most "friends" will do whatever it takes to whomever to get that break. We at the Agency have found emerging talent to often partner with people that are only out for themselves. Don’t be foolish and assume that the person you are working with has the same motivations as you.

One potential resource to help insure the success of student and other projects is ArtistArmor.com visit their site to learn more.

How many of you have tried to acquire an Agent by sending an letter, email, or phone call to only be rebuffed or sidelined. This is an unfortunate effect of Agents, Managers etc. being overloaded by so many people with screenplays or performers that want to be discovered or get their script produced.

So a tip to those that want to crack the marketplace. Try to investigate the Agency or Agent that your reaching out to. A blanket phone call to an Agency or email to an Agent is apt to probably not get you far. We would suggest try to follow an Agency's submission protocols - that would mean to actually look at their websites before making the call or sending the email. Nothing is more than annoying than having to repeat what has already been made public on a website.

We receive countless calls from writers, performers etc. that want to give a quick phone pitch. This may work for some, but it is clear that in many cases that some people don't even know what Agency they are talking to and this is not good. Do a bit of research before hand.

Also, a bit of protocol when calling an Agency do not assume that the person picking up the phone is automatacally person at the Agency you are trying to reach.

Good Luck.

Another important piece of information regarding your relationship with your representation. Clients have to understand that when they get representation it is a team effort and that it is important that the Client makes sure that ALL Projects and contacts no matter how big or small are kept Up to Date with your representation.

When you are represented your representation needs to be involved at all levels. Some very stupid and self destructive clients keep pertinent information from their representation.

We have heard many pathetic and sad excuses after they have been screwed when they come to the Agency for assistance after the fact.

This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. When you are represented it should be considered a collaboration and a privilege. Many of you don't quiet understand or appreciate that we only get paid when you make money. Our job is to make sure that you are treated professionally economically and otherwise.

You must understand that many creatives do not command a high return for their efforts. Yet the Agency is there to treat all clients with respect and dignity regardless of their pay scale.

It is not fair to all of the Clients that some bad apples caused the Agency to spend precious time following up on their bad habits and decisions. Please note: A $1000.00 dollar job only represents $100.00 to the Agency and when it takes days to clear up bad decisions and stupid Client arrogance it hurts the rest of the Clients and forces us to make decisions regarding our approach to representation.

Those of you that feel that you know it all and want to handle your contacts and negotiations etc. We encourage you to take advantage of Artist Armor. Again, Why Artist Armor, at least it can provide some form of recall and tools in case of disputes. Don't be just another fool who thinks they know it all in dealing with "friends" or other industry BS. (i.e you have to pay your dues, we sold the project to somebody else, don't worry about the options or pay, do this one job and I have others waiting for you etc.).

Have a good relaxing weekend and remember your Agents are always available to professional Clients.

We at Global Talent Agency have become frustrated with what would appears to be a complete lack of understanding of a professional relationship between a Client and an Agent.

Simply put it is a relationship that is based on shared goals and desires. The goals and desire are mutual and that means the Agent will want you to succeed and do what they can.

However, that often requires speculative work by the Agent and sadly many attenpts do not land the audition or writing gig right away. This by no means relieves you the client of your responsibilty which is to be honest, transparent and have open communications. Now some Agents don't want to hear from their clients, we do and have always.

What we have found is that some clients will take on work and not tell us about it. This causes a major time suck that impacts the Agents ability to assist and fairly give time to the full roster.

These types of clients are under the misguided mindset that an Agent isn't involved if they get the work without the Agent. This is complete garbage. Agents gives you legitimacy and that Agent has worked for you. You owe it to be honest with the Agent and make sure they are involved. You send a very clear message when you don't involve the Agent to anybody your working with you - that you are open to be taken advantage of and non professional.

If you are of the mindset that basically says F the Agent, because you don't feel you need one, then we recommend that you don't attempt to get an Agent and use ArtistArmor.com at least have some respect for yourself and your career.

GTA is pleased to announce the success of many of our Clients. This is exciting and great for all the hard work they/we did to make things happen.

This makes it necessary to consider the amount of time we have for well meaning but non performing Clients. It has led us to begin an immediate review of our roster and unfortunately we will be reconsidering full representation for our inactive clients that we have not heard from.

That does not mean that we are not open to full communications and in fact encourage it with our new or existing clients.

Of course if you are a Client that we have to let go we strongly encourage you to take advantage of ArtistArmor for your protection.
