Last week my student of the month, for December, Jane and her mom Jen Hasty and I visited the N. Hollywood Family Homeless Shelter to donate toys, books and shoes that all of my students gave during November. We were given a tour of the facilities and came away grateful for all we have in our lives. The shelter is very nice and no family is turned away. They assured us that the items we brought will be greatly appreciated. Thank you to all of my students for being so selfless in donating your prize possessions to those less fortunate.

What an amazing recital/show we had today at the Evergreen Retirement Home! We do our recital’s here every year and this year we may have raised the bar a little bit. We put a show together like a 1940s radio hour and all the songs were from the 40s in the 50s. The students (and I) even dressed “era-appropriate”. The residents absolutely loved it! They were singing alone, clapping their hands and dancing in their seats! After the show, each of the students sat and visited with a resident and gave them a small gift. I know it means the world to them. I couldn’t be more proud of my students! Unfortunately several of my students left before we had a chance to get everybody together for a group photo. There will be more pictures to come…

Congratulations to Jasper, Student of the Month for June!! He broke a record for the most practices and has been flying along with his lesson songs. He’s now working on “la Vie En Rose” for our retirement home recital/show later this summer and is KILLING it! Keep it up, Jasper!
