❓What was the most challenging thing you faced recently in your business/industry?

🅰️: “The COVID 19 Pandemic was simply the single most disruptive challenge not only my business, but the entire global economy faced starting in early 2020. My approach to this unprecedented challenge was to proactively engage my clients to see what assistance they could use in architecting their own plan to survive the Pandemic induced business environment.”

❓How did you overcome it? What actions did you take that led you there?

🅰️: “I overcame the challenge of the pandemic in two ways. First, I did not panic and I followed the CDC’s guidance on protecting mine and my family’s health. Second, I leveraged the

Happy Federal Contracting Friday! This week we talked about proposal writing, elements of a good proposal, and best practices in your writing.

Today we are continuing that conversation.

Think of your proposal in layers, there are three different layers: the foundation, the details, and the final edits.

The first layer is where you will build your foundation for a high scoring . Here you will develop a matrix and an outline in response to what the RFP says. The second layer is adding in the details. It will build on the first layer, and you will go back and add all your features and strengths with proof of benefits. (Remember those?) The last part is refining your draft, making sure it is well written, visually organized, and easy to read.

Our very own healthcare consultant, Dr. Deborah Parham Hopson, RN, FAAN, is featured in a new PBS documentary on the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps entitled “Invisible Corps: In Officio Salutis (In Service of Health).”

This documentary covers the history and evolution of the Public Health Service and the USPHS Commissioned Corps. It explores the politicization of public health and the potential for change that will affect our nations’ health for years to come. Dr. Parham Hopson’s mother, also a nurse, is fondly featured in the film.

There are 4 phases in the Federal Contracting Lifecycle. Usually, this lifecycle can take 6-12 months to complete. Throughout all of these phases, you must remain compliant with all government requirements, hint 🤔 remember the we talked about last week?

1️⃣ Strategy and sales planning - where you evaluate available opportunities and start to create a . What are you offering? Who are your competitors? What is the government spending money on? Do you have enough funding or cash flow? The second step in this phase is to get registered if you haven't already. Head over to SAM.gov to register your business and see if you qualify for set-asides or programs.

2️⃣ Capture planning and award - writing the . A lot of contractors say this is the hardest step, writing a winning proposal is no easy feat. Research, competitive analysis, teaming, and writing all come into play here. Luckily, dozens of our have experience in proposal writing and can help you along the way in this process. 3️⃣ Contract fulfillment and reporting - Congrats! You won the , now it's time to deliver and deliver effectively. Again, you’ll want to make sure you are still compliant with all federal regulations so far and that your systems are in place. Making sure your processes like accounting and purchasing, cost estimating, material management, and financial reporting are all compliant is an essential part of this phase.

4️⃣ Contract completion and renewal - once the contract period ends, the cycle may or may not renew. And if it does, you have a good chance of winning again as long as you audit your work and prove that it is compliant with regulations.
