We had a very busy spring this year - whew!

Our team was so thrilled to work with Kara with the (brand new!!) Utah Tulip Festival, helping bring her dream to life by introducing her new garden experience to Utah.

Kara had experience with agritourism events and already runs a successful fall festival and corn maze. But tulips were a new undertaking, with a new audience and new challenges.

We were excited to be part of the team, creating a multifaceted marketing plan with preseason and "now open" flights leveraging Google branded and non-branded search, Performance Max, and paid Meta.

Never underestimate the value of delighting your customers.

A couple weeks ago (right before Mother's Day) my body was playing the typical "tension in the neck and back" game. I called my local spa and asked if there was any chance I could sneak in a massage while I was there for my scheduled skin care appointment in a couple days.

They are usually booked up weeks ahead of time and this was less than short notice.

To my absolute shock, the gal on the phone was like - maybeeeee.... ๐Ÿค”

About an hour later, she had moved things around (including my existing appointment) to give me back-to-back services that literally made my week. She was actually still finalizing things when she called me back to let me know. All I had to do was show up at 11:30 and they'd take care of the rest.

Absolutely delightful.

You'd think that would be enough.

But then, fast forward to my appointment day... as I'm easing into relax mode - feeling grateful they went the extra mile to get me in - I discovered this gem in the relaxation area with my name on it. ๐Ÿ˜

And, by the way, that cake pop was the most delicious one that's ever been created. Wow!

And here's the thing - when I called initially, there wasn't actually a massage appointment available that worked with my existing appointment. The answer could've been (should've been??), sorry - we don't have room on short notice.

But, instead, they moved things around. They made calls. They went above and beyond.

โœจ And then they brought me a glass of wine! โœจ

And while I always liked this women-owned local business with incredible services, I'm elevated to next-level fandom now.

I was delighted and surprised.

This is how we build loyal customers. It's a good reminder as we're doing our regular worky-work - the extra steps make a huge difference.

Last week I was so honored to be invited as a speaker for the Annual Tourism Summit held by the Skagit Tourism Bureau.

The speakers before me shared a lot of data illuminating the dip in travel in our current environment, making it even more clear that businesses who rely on tourism are competing for visibility with a much smaller audience than usual.

That, combined with adjusted algorithms, AI overviews, and changes in user behavior create urgency to evaluate your marketing plan, content strategy, and digital infrastructure.

I try not to play favorites but I definitely get excited when an AEB Brewing meeting hits my calendar.

And, honestly, who wouldn't love chatting about quality beer, brew pets, and international brewing?

AEB Group is based in Italy, serving customers around the globe. Their U.S. Brewing Team came to me with a fun idea - create a casual, educational, and interactive space for brewers in the states.

We built a clean, easy to navigate blog-first website and newsletter focused on quick tips and resources. And (definitely my favorite part) brew masters can submit their Brewery Pet for the Brew Pet Spotlight every month. Because those pups need to be recognized for their important contributions to the craft!

I'm still trying to convince them I need a research trip to their Italian HQ to get better insight into their newsletter formatting... that seems reasonable, right?

"We have an amazing click thru rate! ...but our sales are flat..."

I hear this sometimes in a discovery call and I have thoughts.

The unpopular answer here is that if you're not generating outcomes - bookings, sales, revenue, conversions - then the rest of the metrics don't really matter that much.

I will say that it's important to be realistic about your goals going into a campaign. You have to select tactics, budget, and tracking metrics that make sense for your target audience and desired outcomes.

With that in mind - if you're seeing clicks to your website, but not seeing outcomes, here are a few things to check:
- Is your customer journey clear and easy to move through?
- Are your products and services priced well?
- Does your site (and customer journey) load well on mobile?
- Are your ads aligned with your website and offer?

You might also check if customers are starting the process but abandoning it midway through. If so, there might be friction in your purchase process.

Sometimes the campaign needs adjustment - but if you're seeing CTR and low conversions, I'd check the customer journey as well.

"I'm suddenly seeing this item everywhere!"

We've all been there - we're shopping for something or click through on an Instagram ad and now we're seeing that product or brand everywhere!

This is classic retargeting. The site knows you visited, but you didn't convert. The brand doesn't want you to move on with your life and forget about them.

Wait - don't go! Here is a reminder of that thing you were interested in...

Ad retargeting is extremely easy to set up and can be a relatively small piece of your ad budget. But the ability to stay in front of interested potential customers/clients/supporters can be extremely valuable.

This can be especially true if your product or service is one that might require some extra consideration, consultation with a partner, or scheduling. Visitors may intend to come back later, and you don't want them to forget!

In the case of Skagitonians to Preserve Farmland, their goal is focused on education and awareness. This is key example of when multiple touches with an interested person is key to conveying your message.

We hardly ever build digital marketing campaigns without a retargeting strategy. And this can be a big missing piece for individuals who DIY their ad campaigns. One of many reasons I always recommend you work with an expert if you're investing in advertising.

Pro tip: Retargeting tags require a minimum threshold of website traffic to operate, so make sure to install those as soon as possible - well before your campaign launches. This makes it more likely the threshold will be met when your ads launch.

Of all the decisions I've made in my life, marrying this guy was the best one.

Not only is he my favorite person to hang with, but he is the quiet support beam for this business. When I'm outside my comfort zone, he's cheering me on. When things are hard, he's encouraging me to keep going. When I have a big win, he's the first person I tell.

When I take a leap of faith, he makes sure I have enough extension cords. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Nothing says spring in the Skagit Valley like talking about tulips! I am so thrilled to see our new Tulip Valley Farms website bloom this month.

Tulip Valley Farms knew their previous site was costing them ticket sales and they came to us with a big ask - Let's rethink everything.

Around here, that's our favorite request!

We started with their brand, refreshing their logo and building a bright, fresh color palette with custom, hand drawn icons and textures. We wanted to reset their visual identity to align with their fun, family-friendly farm personality.

Then we shifted from Wordpress over to a custom Shopify build, giving them elevated e-commerce functionality and a completely redesigned user experience. We optimized their framework and their content for search and AI queries, and leaned into their incredible library of photography and video.

As a final step, we implemented comprehensive tracking and analytics across their website and third-party ticketing platform, creating comprehensive organic and paid campaign metrics that can guide real-time decisions during a busy tulip season.
