Happy World Baking Day🥖🌾 Behind almost every home baker is someone who first taught them how to fold dough, roll pie crust, or trust instinct over measurements.
In honor of World Baking Day on May 17, we’re celebrating those traditions with Bake It Forward — a community campaign focused on sharing home-baker stories while supporting the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank through flour donations and local grain partnerships.
FLOUR DONATION DRIVE
From May 17–31, we’ll donate one pound of flour to the Stanwood-Camano Food Bank for every five pounds of retail flour sold. All retail flour purchases will also be 5% off during the campaign.
We’re also honored to partner with Oxbow Farms in Stanwood, who are donating soft white wheat grain that we’ll mill and bag into an additional 100 five-pound bags of flour for the food bank.
SHARE YOUR BAKING STORY
We’re inviting home bakers to share the story of who first taught them to bake — whether that was a grandparent, parent, neighbor, teacher, or family friend.
WIN A FLOUR BUNDLE
Participants who share their story on social media tagging Fairhaven Mill, or submit it directly to us, will be entered to win a Fairhaven Mill flour bundle and merchandise package.
“Baking is one of those traditions that gets passed hand-to-hand and generation-to-generation,” said Philip Fraley, General Manager of Fairhaven Mill. “World Baking Day felt like a natural opportunity to celebrate those connections while also helping stock the shelves of a local food bank.”
Based on typical sales volume, we expect to donate hundreds of pounds of flour to local families through the campaign.
