🍓 Why SHOULD food be messy? 🍝

According to the SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) Approach to Feeding, messy play with food is an important part of learning to eat! Before a child is comfortable tasting a new food, they often need opportunities to explore it through touch, smell, sight, and play.

Squishing yogurt, touching spaghetti, licking applesauce off fingers, or building with blueberries may look “messy,” but it’s actually helping a child’s nervous system feel safe and comfortable around food. 👏

For many picky eaters, food refusal is not just “behavior” — it can be sensory, anxiety-based, or related to motor skills. Allowing playful exploration without pressure helps build confidence and positive experiences with eating.

At Stacked Therapies, we support children with:
✔️ Picky eating
✔️ Sensory food aversions
✔️ Anxiety around foods
✔️ Oral motor challenges
✔️ Mealtime routines and regulation

If your child struggles with picky eating, food textures, or stressful mealtimes, reach out to us — we’d love to help support your family

Woman Crush Wednesday goes to someone who is showing up for Burlington families in the most extraordinary ways.

Meet Dr. Amy Correa - Navy veteran, Doctor of Occupational Therapy, mom of three, founder of Stacked Therapies, and Burlington's own pelvic floor therapist at The Healing Tree.

Through Stacked Therapies, Amy serves the pediatric population in Burlington and surrounding areas - meeting kids at home, at school, at daycare, and out in their community. Her vision is simple and powerful: every child has a unique gift, and it takes a special therapist to see the light and ignite the fire.

At The Healing Tree, Amy practices pelvic floor therapy for adult women. If you have never heard of it - your pelvic floor supports your bladder, bowel, and uterus and affects everything from core strength to postpartum recovery to everyday comfort. Amy is here to help you understand your body and feel confident.

And yes - Amy and her husband Chris hit the dance floor for Dancing with the Stars: School Days to raise money for the BASD Foundation and were absolutely on fire. 🔥

Children, moms, families. Amy shows up for all of them. Burlington is so lucky to have her.

Check out Stacked Therapies and The Healing Tree and show Amy some love
