"Be more visible" is not a strategy. Here's one that is: get mentioned somewhere you don't own.

A local feature. A podcast guest spot. A public review from a client who loved the work. Each one is someone else vouching for you — a kind of trust you can't create by talking about yourself. (It's also what AI pulls from when someone asks it who to hire.)

And none of it requires being big, or hiring a publicist.

Swipe for 3 moves you can make this month 👉

I also pulled together the full list — every place I'd start if I were building authority from scratch.

Where’s the last place someone mentioned your business that you didn’t pay for? 💬

—
Every business owner wants to be more visible.

Almost none of them are thinking about PR.

It gets filed under “someday, when we’re bigger.”

But consider what a mention actually buys you: you can’t manufacture it.

That’s the entire point. Anyone can claim to be the best — you can write that on your own website this afternoon and nobody can stop you. A feature, a review, a spot on someone’s list? That’s someone else saying it. Different currency entirely.

That’s trust. That’s what establishes you as an authority in your industry.

And it recently stopped being only a credibility play.

When a prospective client asks an AI assistant for a recommendation, it isn’t only “reading” your About page. It’s working from what the rest of the world already says about you — if you’re mentioned at all.

Being mentioned somewhere you don’t own is what turns you from a claim into a fact.

The thing that felt optional is quietly becoming infrastructure.

More on how this works next week 👀

Starting a little series to show you work I am proud of!

First up: lately part of my week belongs to the Bram Kranichfeld campaign for Chittenden County State's Attorney — helping tell the story of a candidate I believe in.

Words, captions, event moments, endorsements. The behind-the-scenes stuff that makes a campaign feel like a person, because this one actually is.

And here's the fun part: there's a gathering next week where you can meet Bram in person.

Comment "invite" or DM me and I'll send you the invitation directly.

Come meet the person I've been writing about.

When someone lands on your website for the first time and isn’t ready to book or buy yet… do you have any way to stay in touch with them?

If the answer’s “not really,” you’re not alone — most service business sites are built to capture bookings, not relationships. Which means every visitor who needs more time just… leaves.

Here are 4 places to start fixing that:
• capture the email early, make the offer worth saying yes to
• build a sequence (not just one email)
• stop hiding your opt-in in the footer or checkout

This is the surface-level version.

If you want to talk through what an actual funnel looks like for your business, send me a message — I’d love to help.
