Did you know?
The concept of vampires can be traced back to ancient civilizations, with early beliefs rooted in fear of the dead rising from their graves, particularly in cultures like the Mesopotamians, Greeks, and Romans!
In these ancient societies, the fear of the undead often manifested in myths and legends about creatures that fed on the life force of the living. The word "vampire" itself became popular in the 18th century in Eastern Europe, where tales of blood-sucking beings, particularly the Slavic “upir,” gained traction. The infamous character of Count Dracula, created by Bram Stoker in his 1897 novel Dracula, helped solidify the modern image of the vampire as a charismatic, immortal being with a thirst for human blood. This work, along with subsequent adaptations, has continued to shape vampire mythology in literature and film.
