Protein is everywhere right now.

Protein cereal. Protein chips. Protein cookies. Protein coffee. Even protein water.

As a dietitian, I absolutely think protein is important. But lately I’ve been wondering: when did every bite become an opportunity to optimize?

My latest post explores the current protein obsession, why it’s happening, and what we might be losing when we focus on one nutrient above everything else.

Have you noticed the protein trend too?

The protein obsession is everywhere. A dietitian explains why protein matters and why healthy eating is about more than maximizing protein.

Mother’s Day can bring up a lot around food, bodies, and the messages we inherited growing up.

Many of us learned food rules long before we could question them: “Sugar is bad.” “Don’t eat too much.” “Watch your weight.” “Good girls have self-control.”

And even when we know better intellectually, those messages can still shape how we feel about eating, our bodies, and ourselves.

One of the most meaningful parts of my work is helping people untangle those inherited beliefs — and for many parents, choosing not to pass them down to their own children.

I wrote about this in my latest post: Food Rules From Childhood and How to Break Them

If you’ve ever felt guilt around eating, fear around certain foods, or anxiety about your body, this one may resonate. ❤️

Learn how food rules from childhood shape your relationship with food—and how to break generational patterns with a non-diet approach.

You've probably been told to control your portions to lose weight or get healthier. But for a lot of people, it's actually making things harder.

When your body isn't getting enough food, it fights back - more hunger, more food thoughts, stronger urges to eat. That's biology, not a lack of discipline.

The "eat less" approach can create the very cycle you're trying to break.

I wrote about why this happens- and what to focus on instead.

Why portion control doesn’t work: it can lead to overeating and disconnection from your body. Learn a more sustainable, intuitive approach.

One thing people don’t talk about very much is how much time they spend thinking about food.

It’s something I hear from clients all the time.

Many people feel embarrassed by it or assume it means they lack willpower. But very often, it’s a natural response to not eating enough, years of dieting, or a history of disordered eating.

When the body isn’t getting what it needs, food can start to take up a lot of mental space.

I wrote a new blog post about why this happens and how people can begin to experience more ease and freedom around food again.

Read it here, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Wondering why you're thinking about food all the time? Learn how dieting and restriction create food preoccupation—and how your mind can regain space.

For years, many people believe their body is the problem.

But what if the body resisting weight loss is actually a sign it’s working exactly as designed?

I wrote about what happens biologically after years of dieting and why weight loss often becomes harder over time.

Read the full post here:

For many people, the story of trying to lose weight doesn’t begin last month or even last year. It often begins decades earlier. Over time, people try many different approaches: cutting calories, eliminating certain foods, tracking macros, joining programs, or starting new exercise routines. Each ...
