This week, our co-founder and the Chair of the Orange County Workforce Development Board, delivered the opening and welcome remarks to more than 600 conference attendees, businesses, educators, staff and members of 45 workforce development boards throughout California. The first part of 2026 has included a series of meaningful conversations and interactions with government officials, agencies and legislative bodies. Last week, we sat down with Assemblymember Diane Dixon of the 72nd District to talk through real estate and housing, economic and workforce development, industry engagement, and supporting small businesses.

We continued working alongside a business partner in the arts on their workforce development strategy at the same time as they expanded and stepped into a new partnership with a national brand.

At the state level, we also helped a business partner navigate the legislative process in California, leading outreach and securing meetings with key elected officials across both chambers in Sacramento, working to align a funding request with current budget priorities and timelines.

We’re also preparing to onboard a business partner in health care, supporting their expansion into new regions through public affairs and continued fee-for-service opportunities.

In between, we also helped welcome statewide workforce leadership to Orange County for a two-day visit. We connected with Congressman Jon Porter on the importance of relationships, and heard from the U.S. Department of Labor on America’s Talent Strategy at a national conference, where we represented the OC Workforce Development Board as its Board Chair.

We began the new year with gratitude for enduring relationships, meaningful connections old and new, and the momentum carried into 2026. As the Lunar New Year approaches and more than two billion people worldwide prepare to celebrate it, we’re reminded that some cultures measure progress in cycles rather than quarters, where success is defined beyond short-term wins, but by continuity and legacy. Wishing a powerful and prosperous Year of the Fire Horse to those who observe the Lunar New Year.

💫 We are honored to share that TLN's co-founder, Anna Lisa Lukes, has been re-elected Chair of the Orange County Workforce Development Board for a fourth consecutive year.

👏 The Board oversees a regional workforce system investing tens of millions of public dollars annually, serving tens of thousands of career seekers, and partnering with hundreds of employers, educators, and community organizations to ensure Orange County’s workforce is skilled and competitive. It plays a central role in aligning workforce investments with high-growth industries, strengthening employer engagement, and expanding access to career pathways for youth, veterans, and individuals facing barriers to employment.

💯 While there are more than 500 OC-based NGOs that list workforce as part of their work, the Board is the only regional public workforce system in Orange County. We are one of 46 Boards in California, and one of nearly 600 nationwide.

💥 Under the Board’s leadership and the work of a dedicated and talented staff, Orange County continues to advance sector-based workforce strategies, accountability for public funding, and partnerships that deliver measurable outcomes for both workers and businesses.

Anna Lisa said, "I am grateful for the trust of my fellow Board members and staff, and the County of Orange Board of Supervisors, and excited to keep doing the work that connects people to opportunity and businesses to talent.
