Simcere Innovation is dedicated to the health of our employees and has taken measures to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19. We have been enforcing social distancing guidelines, including reassigning desks, staggering lunch times, and restricting meeting attendance.

Additionally, sanitary products including masks, hand sanitizer, and sterile wipes have been provided for employees. Employees are required to wear masks on-site and encouraged to keep hands and spaces clean. Our workspace is regularly disinfected, including biweekly fogging services. Employees also have daily temperature checks. Should somebody present a fever, other symptoms, or test positive, then they must return and stay home followed by a deep cleanse of the site.

We have limited the number of visitors and complete deliveries at a designated loading dock. Employees have been advised to avoid public transit and are being assisted through rental car reimbursement and coordination of carpooling.

We have been keeping up-to-date with guideline changes from the government and posting notices about health information and safety measures. These standards meet the State mandatory Safety Standards for Workplaces as applied to laboratory facilities and will keep our employees safe.

Simcere Innovation takes the health of its employees and community seriously in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a difficult time for all of us and we have been seeking ways to help our community. As a biotechnology research company, we specialize in developing cell & gene therapies that fundamentally improve the lives of patients suffering from currently incurable diseases. We share the same goal as the frontline medical workers – treat all patients. During this pandemic, Simcere Innovation has a duty to support our colleagues in various medical institutions in the fight against COVID-19. Working together with Simcere Pharmaceutical Group, we have donated a supply of personal protective equipment to our colleagues at hospitals in America, including Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston Children's Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, URMC Strong Hospital, and others.

We have received thank you letters from these hospitals, and they appreciate Simcere Innovation’s sense of social responsibility and generosity. As always, Simcere Innovation will continue these efforts to protect our healthcare workers, slow the spread of the virus, and keep our community healthy. We are all in this together.

Simcere Innovation wants to retain a sense of community among our employees amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. So we have restarted our Journal Club, moving it online via WebEx. For the inaugural meeting, we discussed strategies for success in the oncology market.

On March 19, 2020, Nanjing Simcere Dongyuan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd, one of the manufacturing centers of Simcere Pharmaceutical Group, received the US FDA's on-site inspection report and passed without defect as stated in the EIR conclusions (US 21CFR).

The successful launch of Simcere Dongyuan through the FDA on-site inspection is another success following EU GMP certification of Simcere Hainan, a different subsidiary of Simcere Pharmaceutical Group. These certifications show that Simcere strongly values quality manufacturing and lay a solid foundation for the company's product quality assurance and international business development, as well as promote international strategic layout and quality control processes.

The novel coronavirus has infected more than 1.07 million people and killed over 58,000 worldwide, with the US having reported more than 261,538 cases and over 6,600 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University. Simcere Innovation has been taking thorough measures to best protect our employees and community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Because we believe that wearing face masks is a vital method to reduce community viral transmission, we have been providing 2 masks/day for our employees since March 10th and now require our employees to wear masks at work since March 23rd. Yesterday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said, “Every New Yorker should wear a mask outside to help stop coronavirus spread.” Additionally, the White House is expected to announce a new policy that would urge Americans to wear cloth masks in an effort to slow or prevent coronavirus spread based on guidance from the CDC, according to a federal official familiar with the proposal.

We suggest that you wear a mask to slow coronavirus spread to protect ourselves, others, and our community, but please don’t wear a medical mask such as N95, because those are needed by health care workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic.
