🗺️ Localisation et Web 🌐

Pourquoi la localisation est si importante pour le SEO?

Site web traduit en plusieurs langues + Contenu web adapté à chaque pays cible

= Gros bénéfices pour l’entreprise, car elle met en avant ses produits et services à l’échelle internationale 💸💸💸

La traduction SEO comprend à la fois la traduction d’un texte vers une autre langue et l’optimisation de ce texte pour le site web de l’entreprise dans un autre pays.

📚 Time to read 📚

We all have heard about Grimm brothers’ fairy tales like Rapunzel, Snow White and Hansel & Gretel.

But do we actually know the real stories?

For the first time in over 200 years, the fairy tales will finally be translated to have blood and horror restored in the stories. 🧚

“Rapunzel is impregnated by her prince, the evil queen in Snow White is the princess’s biological mother, plotting to murder her own child, and a hungry mother in another story is so unhinged and desperate that she tells her daughters: I’ve got to kill you so I can have something to eat.”
Many people considered the stories too gruesome for children, this is why over the years, translations adapted the stories in order to make them less violent.

The EU Delays the Medical Device Translation Requirements by 1 year

MDR will be a huge challenge for many medical companies that will have to translate their medical devices in possibly all 24 European languages. “MDR could become the most disruptive factor to hit the European healthcare market since the start of the Second World War” Jeffrey B Jump (chairman and CEO of MedAlliance) This quote was said in October 2019 before the start of the Covid-19 crisis which has greatly affected medical companies.🧪

This is why the EU has decided to push the deadline by 1 year “This will relieve pressure from national authorities and industry, and it will allow them to focus fully on urgent priorities related to the coronavirus” Stefan de Keersmaecker 🧬

It is important to remember that this delay does not give that much extra time especially if companies are slowed down due to the economic and health situation.

Does the language you speak changes your perception of time? That’s what Kendra Pierre-Louis is trying to explore in this article from Popular Science. 🧪

“Swedish and English speakers, for example, tend to think of time in terms of distance—what a long day, we say [...] Spanish and Greek speakers, on the other hand, tend to think of time in terms of volume—what a full day, they exclaim. Time becomes a container to be filled.” 🌐

La langue que vous parlez change-t-elle votre perception du temps ? C'est ce que Kendra Pierre-Louis tente d'explorer dans cet article de Popular Science. 🧪

"Les Suédois et les Anglais, par exemple, ont tendance à penser au temps en termes de distance - quelle longue journée, disent-ils [...] Les Espagnols et les Grecs, en revanche, ont tendance à penser au temps en termes de volume - quelle journée complète, s'exclament ils. Le temps devient un récipient à remplir". 🌐

“Eat your Fingers Off!”

🗺️ Localization fail 🗺️

There are many examples of companies launching products in new countries and having a problem with the localization of their content.

A great example is KFC when they tried to launch their fast-food chain in the 1980s in China.

KFC tried to simply translate their famous catchphrase “fingerlickin’ good”, but languages don’t simply translate one word to another the way a multilingual dictionary might 🍗

The end result was a brand new, accidental catchphrase that read something like “eat your fingers off!”. Humorous, and ultimately fairly tame but wrong nonetheless.

Some localization mistakes are not a big deal, but some localization fails can create some big problems 😁
