Equity Allies is sponsoring a series of online courses meant to build skills and capacity for navigating uncertain times. Plasticity Lab launches with three transformative courses:

1. Somatic coaching cohort
A 10-week program that will help you break free of the physiological contractions that keep you feeling stuck in old patterns.

2. Evicting the System: Somatics for Thriving through Capitalism
An online embodiment course for disentangling from perfectionism, urgency and scarcity for the sake of inhabiting a more secure, grounded, and confident version of yourself.

3. Generative Conflict Somatics
Piloted for Harvard University faculty and hosted by the Kirkridge Retreat Center, participants will learn to engage more skillfully in conflict without losing themselves.

Why somatics?
I'll speak from personal experience.

Somatics has been the catalyst for so much healing that has allowed me to show up as the best version of myself.

Somatic practice has made me aware of my habitual stress responses and has created greater capacity to choose a skillful response. The longer I keep a somatic practice, others increasingly interpret me as safe, capable, and reliable.

My values and actions have become more aligned through somatic practice. I may still make mistakes but I am more resilient, transparent and accountable.

The great shifts that are happening globally and within our communities require us to stay grounded and clear-headed under incredible pressure. Somatic practice grows our capacity to stay centered and present, and to use the pressure as personal fuel, even when things get difficult.

Prentis Hemphill posted about this recently here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DUivBfCketa/

Embodiment creates the skills and capacities we will need to create a future of inclusion, connection, and relational belonging.

I hope you will practice with us and increase your own sense of purpose, dignity, and belonging to serve you during all that's to come.

Generative conflict moves us closer to purpose. For that reason, you might expect communities and organizations to embrace and celebrate generative conflict. Too often, however, our societal conditioning and past traumas prevent us from responding well to the opportunity to embrace conflict. We are so steeped in punitive systems culture that, rather than offer loving corrections, we disavow nuance and cancel one another or avoid raising issues at all. Creating cultures of belonging that are resilient in the face of individual missteps and political disagreement requires us to accept generative conflict for the sake of our shared purpose.
In this online workshop series piloted at Harvard, participants will explore generative conflict through the embodied modalities of somatics and applied theatre to explore their skills and growing edges while learning to develop a culture of belonging for application in the larger world.

We heard you! Our coaching cohort has been moved to the evening to better accommodate your schedule.

This year, grow your capacity to stay present under pressure; be more responsive than reactive; communicate your boundaries with confidence. Through somatic inquiry, we will work with the body to reveal stuck patterns and create new possibilities. Join us.

Here is a snippet from our last online course called Somatics for Connection where we nerded out on the neuroscience behind our stress reactions. We are offering several more online courses this year that combine neuroscience, somatic practice, and breathwork to expand your capacity to stay present, open and connected.

This is the arc of questioning that will be compassionately explored during our upcoming virtual affinity group process.

1. How did my upbringing shape my racial consciousness?
2. What is my body’s stress conditioning?
3. How has wh*te supremacy impacted my internal patterning?
4. How has my lineage been affected by wh*te supremacy?
5. What are the gifts of my lineage to reclaim?

The course begins in late October. Learn more at www.equityallies.org/workshops

We're excited to share this new offering for white people from Kirkridge board member Marissa Metelica, with support from Associate Director Nichola Torbett.

Join us for six Tuesday afternoons that will encourage reflection, curiosity, and compassionate interrogation of subtle and unconscious participation in racist structures for the purpose of cultivating more choice and resilience in our dismantling of these systems. Participants will also have the option to attend two smaller gatherings to assist with integration.

This series will bring to bear some new tools and strategies (somatics and ancestral resourcing) to deepen the work.

Often when white people come to racial healing spaces they are expecting to witness BIPoC trauma. They haven’t imagined how white supremacy has harmed them. That’s why this class was born. Its a space for white folks to do our healing work so that we can be more trustworthy allies who are in alignment with our integrity.

This class uses all the techniques that have proven most impactful on my racial healing journey: applied theatre, movement, somatics, and writing. Join me on a journey of creative, curious, compassionate embodiment.
