Raise your hand if someone you know has died of an overdose in 2025. Multiple times per day I see somebody post to Facebook a picture of a young man or woman with quotes like "I still can't believe it's true!", and "How did this happen to you?", and "Heaven got a new angel today!" (by the way, that's not how that works). HERE IS HOW IT HAPPENED: Drugs and Alcohol kill. They don't kill sometimes, they kill often. They don't just kill people you have never met- they kill people you know from high school, cross-fit and biology class. They kill your sister's college boyfriend, your barista at Starbucks and your next door neighbor. And I am sure that if you are reading this- there is an excellent chance that someone you know has died as a direct result of the disease of addiction. So stop being surprised. Take a stand. If you love someone- confront their disease. If you love someone- support only their attempts at sobriety. Stop enabling people to use because you are afraid they might stop talking to you. Continuing to enable them might just kill them. Help is available. Rant over.

It is important to think positively because it improves physical health, mental well-being, and resilience. Positive thinking is linked to a longer lifespan, better stress management, a stronger immune system, and a lower risk of cardiovascular disease. It also boosts problem-solving skills, enhances relationships, and increases overall happiness and life satisfaction.
