3.) Breathing Mechanism: Cockroaches breathe through special body tubes called spiracles, which also help regulate the amount of water in their bodies.

4.) Resilient Creatures: They can live up to a week without their heads and can survive for three months without food and a month without water.

5.) Health Risks: Cockroaches can carry 33 kinds of bacteria, six different types of parasitic worms, and seven known pathogens.

6.) Nocturnal Nature: They are mainly nocturnal and will run away from light.

7.) Global Presence: There are approximately 4,000 species of cockroaches worldwide, with about 70 species found in the United States.

Cockroaches are incredibly adaptable and can thrive in a variety of environments, but they prefer warm conditions indoors. This adaptability is one reason why they are such common pests in homes and buildings.

1. No Webs: Unlike many spiders, wolf spiders don’t spin webs to catch their prey. Instead, they are ground hunters that chase down or ambush their prey.
2. Excellent Eyesight: Wolf spiders have eight eyes arranged in three rows, giving them excellent vision. This is crucial for their hunting tactics.
3. Variety of Hunting Tactics: Some wolf spiders rely on speed and power to chase down prey, while others use stealth and ambush tactics.
4. Camouflage Experts: Their body color and patterns help them blend into their environment, making it easier to ambush prey and avoid predators.
5. Egg Carriers: Female wolf spiders carry their egg sacs attached to their spinnerets. Once the eggs hatch, the spiderlings often ride on their mother’s back for a while.

Facts on Brown Recluse:

1. Appearance: The brown recluse spider, also known as the violin or fiddle-back spider, has a distinctive violin-shaped marking on its back. They are typically light to dark brown in color.
2. Size: These spiders are relatively small, with a body length of about 0.5 inches (1.2 centimeters) and a leg span of about 1 inch (2.5 centimeters).
3. Eyes: Unlike most spiders that have eight eyes, the brown recluse has only six eyes arranged in pairs.
4. Habitat: They are commonly found in the South and Central United States, particularly in dark, undisturbed areas like attics, basements, and closets.
5. Venom: The bite of a brown recluse can be quite dangerous. Their venom can cause necrotic (rotting) skin lesions and, in rare cases, severe reactions or even death, especially in children. However, about 90% of bites are not medically significant and heal without major intervention.
6. Behavior: True to their name, brown recluses are reclusive and prefer to avoid human contact. They are more active at night and tend to hide during the day.
