Fall is the ideal time of year for soil sampling. Once crops are harvested, it is much simpler to maneuver through fields, soils often have ideal moisture ranges that make sampling easier and temperatures are much more pleasurable.

Sampling early also gives growers ample time to apply a fall soil amendment and plan for spring fertilizer applications.
