🔥 FIRE SPRINKLERS SAVE LIVES 💧

Yesterday afternoon, DFRS crews responded to an automatic fire alarm within the township. Upon arrival, crews investigated and discovered a fire in the bathroom of an apartment.

The building’s fire sprinkler system activated and successfully controlled and extinguished the fire before crews arrived.

This incident is another reminder of just how important properly maintained fire sprinkler systems are. Fire sprinklers save lives, reduce property damage, and can prevent a small fire from becoming a devastating emergency.

🏠 Fire Sprinkler Safety Tips for Residents:
• Never hang items from sprinkler heads or pipes, paint over sprinkler heads, or block them with furniture or decorations
•If you notice a damaged or leaking sprinkler, report it to your landlord or property manager immediately

A properly maintained fire sprinkler system, combined with working smoke alarms and a practiced escape plan, provides critical protection when seconds matter.

Crews are currently working throughout the township to secure hazardous areas and place caution tape around roads impacted by downed trees and power lines following severe weather conditions.

🚫 Please avoid all restricted areas and DO NOT cross or go around caution tape, barricades, or emergency closures. These areas have been restricted for your safety due to unstable trees, electrical hazards, or unsafe road conditions.

⚡ NEVER approach or touch downed power lines! Always assume they are LIVE and extremely dangerous. Stay far away and keep children and pets clear of the area.

Emergency crews and utility workers are actively responding across the township. Your patience and cooperation help keep everyone safe while cleanup and restoration efforts continue.
