What actually happens during a furnace tune-up? πŸ”₯

πŸ” Inspect
We check the parts that keep your heat running: the burner, blower wheel, air filter, electrical connections, and humidifier. We also look over the heat exchanger for cracks.

🧽 Clean
We clean the flame sensor, condensate trap, and the inside of the cabinet. A dirty flame sensor is a common reason furnaces shut off on their own, and it's an easy fix during a tune-up.

πŸ§ͺ Test
We run a combustion analysis, check gas pressure, test the safety controls, and make sure your thermostat and furnace are working together the way they should.

When we're done, you get a detailed visual report of everything we found. If something needs attention, we'll show you, explain it in plain English, and walk through your options.

Service always comes first.

Your furnace might be rusting from the inside out, and you'd never know it. πŸ‘€

Our tech pulled the panels on this furnace in Canal Wi******er and found this:
πŸ”Έ Rust streaking down the blower housing
πŸ”Έ A corroded capacitor sitting right in the drip path
πŸ”Έ Water pooling around the condensate trap
πŸ”Έ The cabinet floor rusting through

High-efficiency furnaces make water every time they run. When the drain line clogs or the coil pan overflows, that water ends up inside the furnace. Over time, it eats away at metal, wiring, and electrical parts.

The tricky part? It all happens behind closed panels. Most homeowners don't see it until the furnace stops working.

A yearly tune-up is the easiest way to catch it early. We'll check your drain lines, look for moisture, and let you know what we find. If it's an easy fix, that's exactly what we'll tell you. πŸ‘

The best day to turn on your heat? A day you don't need it. 🌀️

When the first real cold snap hits Central Ohio, everyone flips the switch at once. If something doesn't kick on, that's the worst time to find out.

So test it on a mild fall day instead:
1️⃣ Swap in a fresh furnace filter
2️⃣ Switch your thermostat to HEAT and set it a few degrees above room temperature
3️⃣ Listen for the furnace to kick on
4️⃣ Check your vents. Warm air should start flowing within a few minutes

A little dusty smell the first time is normal. That's just summer dust burning off. If the smell sticks around, or the furnace won't start, blows cold air, or makes a new noise, give us a call.

Finding it now means you can get it fixed on your schedule, not in a rush. And if it's a simple repair, that's exactly what we'll tell you. πŸ‘

πŸ‚ We finally made it to October. Now let's get some real fall weather.

Have you turned your furnace on yet? Do it on a mild day instead of finding out on the first cold night that something's wrong. Fifteen minutes now beats scrambling at 11pm.

If it doesn't fire up, or it sounds different than you remember, give us a call. Better to sort it out this week than that week.

A big advertising budget doesn't make a company better at fixing furnaces. It just makes them more expensive.

Here's a review that came in this week that shared this experience:

"Unfortunately, I've had to have two separate A/C and furnace repairs this year. The first time I called a place I knew from radio ads, and they charged me $2,700 for maybe $350 worth of parts and about two hours of labor. The second time, I found Service First and Greg! I can't tell you how much I appreciate the way they run their business. They're prompt, honest, and their prices are more than fair. It felt like we were being helped by a friend. I literally can NOT recommend Greg enough!"

Call us if you are looking for a fair price!

πŸ‚ Your fall home checklist:
βœ… Check or replace your air filter
βœ… Test your furnace before you actually need it
βœ… Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
βœ… Make sure supply and return vents aren't blocked
βœ… Clear leaves, weeds and debris from around the outdoor unit
βœ… Don't ignore A/C leaks, freezing or poor performance
βœ… Schedule your fall heating tune-up

Run the furnace for 15 minutes on a mild day. If you hear something new, smell something odd, or it just doesn't come on, you've got weeks to sort it out instead of hours.

Save this one for the weekend. And if anything on the list needs a second set of eyes, we're happy to take a look.
