Engaged folks, how much time are you spending wedding planning this weekend? Did that bring you and your partner closer or was it a source of tension and worry? I hear from so many couples that the wedding planning process can be draining, stressful and not that much fun. Well, sweeties, it’s time to take a break from all that.

If you’re getting married this year (or even renewing your vows) come pause for an evening to reflect on your relationship, the magic that is your unique connection, and write your vows. You both deserve it. You really do.

My only in-person vow writing workshop this year is next Wednesday, June 7th from 6:30-8 pm at 45th Parallel Wines in Portland, Oregon. 6 rad couples will gather around a table in my favorite wine shop, sip some bevvies (NA options provided too), laugh, share, write and reflect together.

It’s hard to describe exactly what happens in this magical container of connection but it’s really special and I want you to experience it. Bring your partner and get cozy while also getting resources, templates and support for vow writing.

Savannah and Dan had an intimate, joy-filled ceremony with their nearest and dearest. I love seeing guests holding each other during the ceremony as they feel all the sacred ceremony love energy. Don’t forget to sign the marriage license! There is a lot that goes into holding space for the ritual of the marriage ceremony but there’s also the legal responsibility of completing and filing the marriage license. The officiant (whether friend, family or professional) is responsible for filing the license with the county. Every county and state has different rules, so check your local marriage license department website to see what you need to do!

5 years ago today, I sent in my business registration papers. I had quit my non-profit sector job, spent the last two months reflecting, planning, dreaming and scheming about how (and if) I wanted to show up as a Celebrant in the wedding industry and then there I was, an official business owner.

I remember the exhilaration and the anxiety of the unknown, wondering if there was room for a deep, reflective process in the wedding industrial complex. There was. I’m grateful to every single client, vendor, mentor, and friend who has collaborated with me so generously along this path. In some ways, it gets easier throughout the years but in other ways, the same doubts, the same anxieties, the same questions arise every year. I’ve decided that this year is my “get out of my own way” year. Charge what my services are worth, honor my boundaries, share my proudest moments with y’all and continue to elevate the importance of deep reflection, ritual, and meaning in the wedding ceremony. It’s what I’m here for. I may not always be in the wedding ritual space but for now, this is where I am and I’m glad you’re here too. Cheers to another year of magic and meaning ✨
