This week is Direct Support Professional Recognition Week, and I don't want it to pass by without stopping to say something directly to the people who make Renew what it is.
If you're not familiar with the term, Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are the men and women who show up every single day to help adults with developmental disabilities live full, independent, and dignified lives. They help with the things most of us take for granted: getting dressed, cooking a meal, getting to work, taking medication on time, being part of a community. But what they really do goes so much deeper than a task list. They build relationships. They notice the small things. They show up on hard days and good ones, and they treat the people in their care like family, because that's what it becomes.
To every DSP on our team, thank you. Thank you for your patience on the tough days, for your consistency, and for the quiet, steady way you show up for the people who depend on you. This work doesn't always get the recognition it deserves, but I see it, and I want you to know it matters more than you probably realize.
The care they provide today becomes part of someone's story for the rest of their life, a memory of being treated with kindness, patience, and respect. That's the kind of legacy this work leaves behind.
