Electric power comes from various sources—coal, gas, wind—but they all trace back to the sun.

When coal burns, it releases energy stored by ancient plants through photosynthesis. Similarly, oil and natural gas originate from marine life that also utilized sunlight. Even hydroelectric and wind energy rely on solar-driven processes!

In essence, everything is powered by sunshine! 🌞 Energy transforms but never disappears; we’re far from running out!

That’s good news, since the forecast is sunshine for the next 5 billion years.

A study from Penn State University shows that solar farms do not pose major risks for stormwater runoff or erosion. Researchers monitored soil moisture, vegetation, and weather patterns at two Pennsylvania sites and found that healthy ground cover and well-draining soils naturally manage excess water. Even in more challenging landscapes, simple stormwater controls like infiltration trenches can effectively handle runoff. These findings confirm that utility-scale solar projects can be built responsibly while protecting water resources and supporting the transition to clean energy.

As the number of major utility-scale ground solar panel installations grows, concerns about their impacts on natural hydrologic processes also have grown. However, a new study by Penn State researchers suggests that excess runoff or increased erosion can be easily mitigated — if these “solar far...

In March, renewables surpassed natural gas in U.S. power generation, marking a clean energy milestone.

Renewables (solar, wind, hydropower, bioenergy) and nuclear supplied over half of the electricity.

This record is due to increased wind and solar capacity alongside lower spring demand for heating and cooling. Fossil fuels produced their lowest output for March in 25 years!

Solar energy is earth friendly and reliable. ☀️

Communities can stay energized during critical times with a strong grid.

Solar panels withstand extreme weather due to solid construction. Design practices assess risks like seismic, wind, and flooding for optimal safety.

Post-storm inspections ensure functionality while modern panels are safe for the environment.

Illinois energy regulators are confronted with a significant challenge: by year's end, the Illinois Commerce Commission, the Illinois Power Agency (IPA), and the Illinois EPA must conduct a comprehensive analysis to address the state's impending resource adequacy shortfall. This includes initiating state-wide integrated resource planning and transmission planning for the first time.

This task occurs within a restructured energy market spanning two RTOs, while adhering to Illinois' carbon-free energy standard amidst substantial load growth.

To achieve the goals set for the state, and continue to be an industry leader, we must embrace solar energy.

Buckheart Solar recently made a donation to the Humane Society of Fulton County, supporting their continued efforts to care for and find loving homes for animals in need throughout our community. Samantha Magee, the Local Representative for Buckheart Solar, had the opportunity to visit with the Humane Society, present the donation, and learn more about the important, hands‑on work they do every day for Fulton County’s animals. The donation will be used to fund the ongoing need of pet supplies for the shelter. We would like to thank the Humane Society of Fulton County for all they do and for their dedication to the Community! We encourage everyone to visit and follow their page to see the impact they’re making: https://www.facebook.com/HSFCIL/
