The Canton-Madison County Historical Society will host a special viewing of the Tornado ’76 Documentary as we mark the 50th anniversary of the Canton Tornado. The documentary features interviews and footage from individuals who witnessed the event and experienced its impact on our community.

Canton's Dr. Andre Hines, founder of JSU Public Policy and Administration Debate Team, was with PhD and Masters students debating other universities in Durham, NC this week. JSU tied for First Place. Congratulations!

Join us for the unveiling of the historical marker at the Canton Freedom House — a place that stands as a powerful symbol of courage and resilience in our community. This marker honors the legacy of those who worked tirelessly for civil rights and ensures their impact will never be forgotten.

We hope you’ll join us as we reflect, remember, and celebrate this important chapter in Canton’s history.

* The program will take place at the Canton Community Center (337 N Union St), with the unveiling to directly follow at the Canton Freedom House.
