🎯 Focus Friday

As we wrap up the week, let’s connect the dots.

This week wasn’t just about communication.

It was about connection.

💡 We learned that talking isn’t the same as connecting.

💡 We explored John Maxwell’s principles of connecting.

🔨 We practiced listening to understand instead of listening to respond.

🙏🏾 We reflected on the people who took the time to encourage, mentor, coach, and support us.

So what’s the takeaway?

Communication is what we do.

Connection is what people feel.

Technology can improve processes.

Communication strengthens relationships.

Connection builds trust.

And trust increases influence.

Strong teams help sustain strong processes.

And together…

⚙️ Process + 👥 People = 💰 Profit™

Processes create the pathway. People create the value.

📌 This Week’s Challenge:

Choose one communication skill to improve:

• Listening
• Public Speaking
• Giving Feedback
• Difficult Conversations
• Storytelling
• Asking Better Questions

Don’t focus on saying more.

Focus on connecting more.

I’m here to Educate, Empower, and Elevate.

💬 What’s one thing you learned about communication or connection this week?

Thankful Thursday

As we’ve discussed this week, communication is more than talking—it’s about connecting.

Today, I’m thankful for the people who took the time to connect with me throughout my life.

The people who:

❤️ Encouraged me

❤️ Mentored me

❤️ Coached me

❤️ Listened to me

Their words mattered, but their actions mattered even more. They made me feel seen, heard, and valued.

Have you ever had someone on your mind, but got busy and kept moving through your day?

Maybe that’s your reminder.

Pick up the phone and call them.

Say a prayer for them.

Offer help to a coworker or teammate who may be struggling.

Small acts of connection can have a lasting impact.

People may forget what we say, but they rarely forget how we made them feel.

Today, I’m thankful for those who took the time to connect with me, and I’m challenging myself to be that person for someone else.

Who can you encourage, support, or check on today?

I’m here to Educate, Empower, and Elevate.

Work It Wednesday

Listen More Than You Speak

One of the most valuable communication lessons I learned came during a meeting when a facilitator challenged us to think about the difference between listening to respond and listening to understand.

That was an “a-ha” moment for me.

It changed how I participated in meetings and conversations.

Instead of planning my response while someone else was speaking, I began actively listening. I took notes on key discussion points, captured ideas that piqued my interest, and focused on understanding the speaker’s perspective.

By listening to understand, I found myself asking better questions and gaining deeper insights.

And if I still had something to contribute, I could first acknowledge what was said and then offer support or an informed alternative perspective.

The result?

Better conversations.
Better relationships.
Better outcomes.

This Week’s Challenge:

During one conversation, intentionally listen without planning your response.

Afterward, ask yourself:

What did I learn?

What did I miss before?

How did the other person respond?

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can say is nothing at all.

I’m here to Educate, Empower, and Elevate.

I’m Dr. Angela R. Johnson—and I work with a very specific type of leader.

They’ve accomplished a lot.

The degrees.
The experience.
The responsibilities.
The track record others admire from the outside.

Yet beneath the success, they’re carrying the weight of leadership, business, ministry, career, and life—and quietly wondering if there’s more.

More purpose.
More clarity.
More impact.
More fulfillment.

Through the REDEEM Framework™, I help leaders:

Reflect on where they are and where they want to go.
Evaluate opportunities, challenges, and priorities.
Develop the skills, mindset, and strategy needed for growth.
Execute with intention and accountability.
Elevate their leadership, influence, and results.
Multiply their impact by developing others.

Because success isn’t just about what you achieve.

It’s about becoming the leader you were created to be.

My mission is to help leaders align purpose with action so they can lead with confidence, serve with excellence, and create lasting impact.

If that sounds like you—or someone you know—I’m glad you’re here.

Tuesday Tips

In John Maxwell’s book Everyone Communicates, Few Connect, he teaches that connection is one of the keys to influence and leadership.

Here are five principles of connecting:

âś… Connecting increases influence.

âś… Connecting is all about others.

âś… Connecting goes beyond words.

âś… Connecting requires energy.

âś… Connecting is a skill that can be learned.

As an introvert, the fourth principle challenges me. Before a presentation or event, I often listen to music to help bring positive energy to the conversation.

Remember, people are watching you more than they are listening to you.

Your actions, body language, facial expressions, and attitude all communicate a message.

Today’s Reflection: What communication style best describes you?

📌 Direct – Straight to the point and results-focused.

📌 Analytical – Values facts, data, and details.

📌 Expressive – Enjoys storytelling, ideas, and enthusiasm.

📌 Relational – Focuses on people, relationships, and harmony.

Most of us use a combination of styles, but one usually comes more naturally than the others.

Understanding your communication style is the first step toward becoming a better connector.

I’m here to Educate, Empower, and Elevate.

Which communication style sounds most like you?

Communication Creates Connection

Just because we talk to people doesn’t mean we’re connecting with them.

In John Maxwell’s book Everyone Communicates, Few Connect, he teaches that connection is the ability to relate to people and reach them where they are.

The key is this:

Connecting is not about you. It’s about the other person.

Connection is more than words.

Your smile matters.

Your facial expressions matter.

Your actions matter.

People often listen with their eyes before they hear our words.

This week’s challenge:

Think about a leader, teacher, pastor, coach, mentor, or family member who positively impacted your life.

What words, actions, or behaviors helped create that connection?

Learn from it. Then pay it forward.

Focus Friday

Whew! It’s Focus Friday!

This week we’ve spent time talking about technology, Artificial Intelligence, people, processes, and profit.

If there’s one takeaway I hope you walk away with, it’s this:

âś… Technology has always been evolving.

âś… Technology is going to continue evolving.

âś… Technology is a tool for PEOPLE to use.

Throughout history, every generation has had to learn, adapt, and discover new ways to create value. Our generation is no different.

The challenge isn’t to fear technology.

The challenge is to learn it.

The challenge is to understand how your unique gifts, knowledge, skills, talents, and experiences can be enhanced through technology.

Remember:

People create value.
Technology improves processes.
People + Process = Profit.

As we head into the weekend, here’s your Focus Friday Challenge:

I encourage you to create a personal development plan to learn one new technology skill that can help you personally or help grow your business.

Ask yourself:

• What do I want to learn?
• Why is it important?
• How will I learn it?
• When will I dedicate time to learning?
• How will I apply what I learn?

Don’t focus on mastering everything.

Focus on taking one step forward.

Keep learning.
Keep growing.
Keep adding value.

I’m here to Educate, Empower, and Elevate.
