🦂 Did you know? After periods of heavy rain, it’s pretty normal to see an increase in scorpion activity around homes and businesses.

🌧️ Heavy moisture can force scorpions out of their hiding places, often pushing them into cracks and crevices as they seek drier shelter.

🏠 This is also when scorpions may find entry points into homes. Sealing gaps around doors, windows, utility penetrations, and other openings can help keep unwanted visitors outside where they belong.

Seeing a few scorpions after rain doesn’t necessarily mean you have an infestation it’s often a result of changing environmental conditions.

While treating a wasp issue inside the wall void of this home, a bark scorpion was also flushed from the same area during the process. 🦂🐝

🐜 While performing another service today, we noticed active carpenter ants trailing along the side of a customer’s home.

At Frogger Pest Management, we’re always keeping an eye out for more than just the issue we were originally called for. We believe in helping identify potential concerns early and notifying the customer so problems can be addressed before they become larger and more costly.

Check out what we spotted in Dripping Springs today 👀🌳🐛

This is a Live Oak Root Borer — a large beetle related to the longhorn beetle family commonly found around live oaks here in the Texas Hill Country. They’re known for their large size and long antennae and are commonly attracted to lights at night.

Seeing one doesn’t automatically mean a tree is dying, but they are often associated with stressed or declining oak trees.

If you begin seeing them regularly around your property, it may be a good idea to have your oak trees evaluated by a local arborist.

🐝 Carpenter Bee Activity Found

After inspecting all wood areas around the home, activity was isolated to this one wood post. Carpenter bees were drilling in and starting to create nesting galleries.

We treated the post directly and applied a residual product to eliminate active bees and help prevent new ones from moving in.

Carpenter bees usually take multiple treatments during active season to fully eliminate—so staying on top of them is key.

After this rain, we’re seeing a big spike in cut ant swarmers around homes. If you’re noticing winged ants around your patio or lights at night, you’re not alone. This is how new colonies start, and it usually means there’s activity nearby or one forming soon.

They’re most active with swarmers from April through June, especially after rain and during high humidity. Once they land, they drop their wings and start building underground colonies that can spread fast.

Tawny crazy ants in action.

You’ll see them trailing along pipes, structures, and even up trees while also moving erratically at the same time.

This type of activity is a sign of a large colony, and control takes consistent treatments over time not just one visit.
