Carbondale Police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred within the past week.

Shortly after midnight on June 3, officers responded to the 500 block of South Beveridge Street after shots were fired at a residence. Police said the suspect was part of a group of juveniles who fled the area on foot. The residence sustained minor damage and no injuries were reported. During the investigation, a 16-year-old Carbondale juvenile was arrested after allegedly threatening to kill an officer, resisting arrest, and possessing suspected cannabis. He was later released to a parent pending a court appearance.

In a separate incident on June 6, officers responded to the 600 block of South Forest Street for a gunshot victim. Police identified the victim as Jayaire M. Gibbs, 18, of Murphysboro, who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute among acquaintances at a gathering. The suspect fled before officers arrived and has not been located.

Both investigations remain active and ongoing.
