Another personal heritage piece. I had a specific set of parameters that I wanted for a dedicated skinning knife. Lost Planet Forge in Des Moines did an excellent job of forging the design into reality using 80crv2 carbon steel. It's heat treated and tempered to a 61.5 Rockwell harness for high edge retention. I then finished the blade with some custom mosaic pins and antique walnut recycled from a piece of furniture given to me by an old neighbor. The sheath is designed to be comfortable, but ride high enough on the belt to be concealed under a T-shirt.

Probably my favorite personal build ever. This started as a slab of 3/16 inch 80crv2 that was then forged by Lost Planet Forge in Des Moines. I then added a finger choil, vine work down the spine with diamond files, curly maple handles locally sourced that I then stained and finished. Handles are held on with epoxy, and pressed in and flared brass tubes.

After processing multiple pigs on the farm, this knife and an antique meat saw given to me by a friend who has since passed, are my favorite tools to use when it's time to make bacon. I dub thee, Pork chop, slayer of pigs lol.

Just add deer 🦌. I have seen sheaths that use a piggy back method to carry both a small and larger knife together. The one drawback I saw was that one would not be able to carry the knives individually. I hope to test this design and find it is the answer.

Just finished the small game processing knife to match the larger one. Slightly different techniques, but close enough to call it a set I believe. The sizes and shapes of the two blades should compliment each other well this hunting season.
