Section 125 cafeteria health plans are an under utilized part of the tax code that have been around since 1978. It is a voluntary and self-funded program that does not disrupt or replace an existing health plan. Additionally, it drastically reduces payroll taxes for the employer, increases the benefits and take home pay for the employees, and increases the valuation of the company.

Business Owners:

Since the 1970’s there have been several revisions to the IRS tax code that allow for Employers and Employees to reduce their tax liabilities.

For example:

Section 401(k) allows for an employee to make a pre-tax contribution to a retirement plan. This lowers their taxable income and lowers the F**A for them and the employer. An employer can also make a tax deductible matching contribution on behalf of the employee.

Section 125 also allows the employee to make a pre-tax contribution to a post tax benefit plan, thereby reducing F**A for both the Employer and Employee. The plan is self funded out of these savings, and the result is a net saving to the Employer while providing a benefit to the employee including in most cases an INCREASE to their take home pay. The net saving is due to the fact that the cost of the plan is substantially less than the F**A savings. These plans are voluntary and supplemental and do not replace or disrupt an existing health plan. These plans can save a business hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.

1. Employer saves $573 per employee per year in F**A taxes.
2. Significant increase in company EBITDA.

4. Plan is self funded. These numbers are net of fees.

Many people do not have the benefit of being on an Employer Sponsored Health Plan. Self Employed individuals know all too well that coverage can be very expensive to obtain on their own and not very comprehensive. I am happy to provide a breath of fresh air to anyone who may be currently paying more than they need to for their own individual or family health insurance. I am happy to provide information to anyone interested. I certainly do provide services to institutional clients for Group Benefits, but it brings me joy to offer the same concierge level of benefits to individuals and families.
