A friend of mine just got 500 likes from an AI-generated “drawing.”
AI has proven that everyone loves cartoons, caricatures, and art. But people don’t feel that a lifetime of practice, mistakes, and knowledge is worth paying for or waiting a bit for a unique custom piece of art.
If you have a friend, family member, or associate who is an artist and you post some ChatGPT “art”, you insult your friend, their profession, and your friendship.
AI “art” is an algorithm made up of a database of stolen copyrighted art. It was compiled because tech companies claimed they were using it for learning purposes, and judges agreed to the practice, but they used the database to rake in hundreds of millions of dollars and are still pirating art to this day.
Working artists are finding it harder to make money every time you post an AI image. AI has some benefits, i.e., safety for cars, medical advancements, and business efficiency, etc. I’ll give it that. But it is not a replacement for art or music. Art has no soul; its likenesses are uncannily off, and if it’s not created by a human, details matter. There is always some weird stuff in the background or broken body parts.
It’s genuinely sad when AI gets more likes and comments than actual human-created art. If you want actual art you can be proud of, I work to make the process smooth and will do my best to work within your budget, if possible.
