About Kind Karma Cannabis Consultants:
This idea came from my experience in the industry, which I have been actively involved in for 12 years. As I embarked upon a career as a delivery service owner, first managing Maria Ygnacio Farm Collective and subsequently striking out on my own with Kind Karma Collective, a medical cannabis delivery service. I have been the owner and manager of Kind Karma Collective for over eight years now, and during that time I have identified a void in the process that desperately needs to be addresses.
Imagine you are a new patient. You have heard good things about cannabis therapies, maybe your doctor suggested exploring it, or your friends have been trying it for a myriad of medical issues. You become interested enough to seek out a cannabis doctor to write you a prescription so you can legally use cannabis products, but you are not looking for a recreational "high', but something much more meaningful, and vital to your health needs. The severity for each patient is different, from terminally ill patients looking to achieve a better quality of life during their time left on this planet, to folks with manageable ailments but who perhaps find themselves having to utilize opiates, or other Big Pharma medications. Lately, we have become much more educated on the dangers of some of these drugs, the nefarious intentions of some of the Big Pharma companies and their endless lobbyists, and the big money industry healthcare has become.
More and more folks eyes are being opened to a system which seems to thrive on continued illness; to actually rely on medications that have terrible side effects, aren't studied long enough to ensure safety, or are simply accepted for their drawbacks because no other options seems available. Many times, and this included me in my younger days, were given medications to deal with the side effects of the other medications! meanwhile the drug reps keep coming into to your doctor's offices, urging them to prescribe their latest concoction that might contain a glimmer of hope to desperate people.
There may be few human experiences as overwhelming as suddenly being faced with a medical condition, or having a loved one faced with a medical challenge, that one may not understand fully, and generally, in my experience and the experiences of the people I work with, are rarely explained completely to the point the patient has a good grasp of the pros and cons of each treatment, and most importantly, if there are alternatives!
Due to the above reasons stated, I felt the void lay in the experience a patient has from the appointment with the doctor to the trip to a dispensary or a call to a delivery service to begin using cannabis as a medicine. Cannabis doctors do have a large range of how they go about prescribing the medication and how much they explain what to expect. In general, the doctor collects some medical information, determines if cannabis is appropriate, write you a prescription and send you out the door. You'd be lucky to even get a list of possible places to obtain the medication. Most patients assume the budtenders will be their guides through this process, but that's not really their job, and certainly they are not being hired with a comprehensive understanding of the endocanninoid system, how THC, CBDs and Terpenes interact in the body, and what will be the best way for the individual to get the desired results. They aren’t paid higher than minimum wage, and are nt expected to have the breadth of knowledge I felt I must acquire as a Collective owner. So, That's where I come in.
My years of experience, coupled with my education, self- education, meetings with the cannabis doctor that has become a friend, my work is writing articles and helping with local conferences aimed to , for instance, educate people as to the source of the cbds they may want to use. The lowest therapeutic level of cbds that can be taken, the use of THC in this process, whether it's used sparingly, heavily, or not at all. I have been on the cutting edge of this industry for years and have seen it's evolution, and have been responsible for maintaining the highest qualities for my patients, most of which are very ill. This is not business to me, but a calling. I was in a bad situation with my health, and I was months from just having them remove my colon. That is, until I turned this medicine on myself. Because I owned a Collective, I was able to take the products I needed that may be out of range for many people due to cost. I have worked extensively with folks on fixed incomes to be able to get a therapeutic cannabis treatment that can fit into their financial situation. Cannabis saved my life; it turned me from a 95 lbs malnourished waif unable to work a full day due to extreme exhaustion and searing unrelenting pain. It was a difficult battle, but I successfully treated myself, against Western medicine beliefs, and comingly cured myself of Crohn's, an autoimmune disease believed to be incurable by Western medicine. In their eyes, I am in remission, but I know I am cured.
Navigating this world was difficult, even for someone such as myself who founded and owned by own Collective. This is when the idea to fill the void between the doctors office that provides the prescription, but little else in terms of a guide to how one's goals can be attained. It is incredibly confusing. No one stopped and gave me the time to explain to be what was happening on a molecular level, a spiritual level, and the overall goals the therapy should have for each different individual. What is missing is a guide for the new patient, until that patient has become comfortable with the new products, feelings, information to assimilate, how to make sure to get the best medicine (beware the snake oil salemen! I see it all the time!)
I have acted as a consultant to new cannabis patients for over 6 years now, before there was even a name to what I was doing, or any type of process. Being as I am filling a previously vacant place, I have had to learn through experience, but I don’t know anyone with as much experience as I in this realm. I have learned that often the process is so intimidating and so complicated and dependant on specific individuals needs. Different folks have highly different responses to CBDs and delta 8 and 9 THC (The only psychotropic molecule the plants provides, for instance, when juicing a patient uses a plant is the flowering tagem, where THC is locked into THCA, an acid molecule that is non psychotropic.
I have extensive knowledge of medical cannabis, it's real world applications, all the products available to patients since I ran a delivery service. I found that when I took on a patient in a consulting paradigm, it took between 2-6 weeks to dial in the right products at the right time at the right price for that individual. It is inherently a means of educated guesses to narrow down the best use for each individual. This ensures the patient doesn't have a negative experience on cannabis and allows them to relax and have someone source the medicine for them, adjust it as needed, change it as needed, explore all different options, to dial in the right products for each individual. If this is not done, I see many patients just give up because they weren't given the tools to make this a success. I have seen and felt first hand the amazing healthing powers of this plant, and also know it is extremely individual and difficult to figure out what will work for people in drastically different medical situations and body chemistry, age, ultimate goals, etc.
I have decided to expand my consulting arm of my business, and I vow to only take on a reasonable number of patients so each gets extremely personal care and I am available to many patients 24/7 - illness doesn't follow working hours. I first talk with a patient and get the best idea I can of what they want and what they need to improve their life and I've seen miracles, not because of me but because this plants is a true gift. This process takes 2-6 weeks generally, and I provide all the medications for you during this period, until we find what best for you and you've learned how and why this works from me. This is not information only understood by doctors, but can be made accessible to everyone by using plain language and following common sense.
now I’m moving into consulting / mainly coming up with personalized treatment plans based on an individual’s specific needs, their health conditions, sensitivity to THC, active or under active endocannabinoid system, goals for taking this therapy, different ways to get CBDs in ones system, help for loved ones, navigating all the new products coming out daily and which are legitimate and what is more like “snake oil,” answers to what each type of medicine does and what is best for that person as well as hitting a therapeutic dose daily in order to get the full benefits. THC in all its forms, CBDs and all its incarnations, and terpenes all affect the way cannabis will affect each individual. The cost for my services is as low as I can make it, and I will have a sliding scale. I don't know at the onset whether your therapy regimen will take two weeks or six weeks to get stable and begin showing extraordinary results. I am committed to sticking it out until the patient is comfortable and happy and feeling the benefits. I will be a resource for you 24/7, a person who will find and procure the medicine you need paying the closest attention to medical purity.
As I said earlier, I will keep my patients down to a number that allows me to be available for them 24/7. It truly is a caregiver role that was envisioned when the law was originally written, and I have endeavored to follow the spirit of that law throughout my career in the industry, and this is were i see myself doing the most good and filling void that can swallow people up and keep the benefits they may receive out of their reach.

I am pursuing higher education in this field, including a plan to travel to Hebrew University, where so much cutting edge work is being done in this area, especially with identifying CBDs and their unique properties. I plan to add a Master's Degree in Horticulture and Chemistry to my existing Bachelor's Degree from USC. The central coast is my home, and my mission is to bring healing in alternative methods as a choice for any person who doesn't completely buy into the Western model, but mostly it is a amalgamation of Eastern and Western beliefs. My childhood and education through high school in Hong Kong exposed me to very different ideas of health and medicine. I hope my unique experiences can help others achieve what I have- an inner peace and an escape from the soul killing chronic pain which used to dominate and take over my life, not allowing me to achieve all I can achieve. I want to pass this beautiful gift onto others, and utilize my knowledge for the good of my community.
I also have a calling for helping the elderly who often are highly medicated with Big Pharma drugs that seem to turn them into zombies. I think this-therapy has high implications for the elderly as well as pets, which is a big part of my interest in this miracle plant.
