This month Aerial Nevada turned five years old. Off to Kindergarten we go.

Some of our accomplishments over the last five years:

-provided instruction/teaching to state and federal agencies
-stock pile (gravel pit) inventories
-drone mapping supporting the NV mining industry
-cell tower inspections
-thermal imaging
-hyperspectral imaging
-wildland fire damage documenting
-and some other cool stuff doing stuff at a place

Here’s to another prosperous five years!

Soloing:

For many years I taught people how to fly helicopters, little ones and big ones. At one point I was also authorized by the FAA to conduct pilot checkrides which was always fun !

The first goal in instructing a new student was to get them to the point where they could fly the aircraft alone, to fly solo. A very proud and slightly stressful situation for both the student and instructor, but always rewarding 😊

Our latest addition to the Aerial Nevada LLC team ‘Pip’ completed his first solo operation recently. Although he is already certificated by the FAA top operate drones he had yet to visit a job site on his own and actually “solo”.

Pip is seen in these pics while completing his first solo 3D mapping job. The 3D map turned out perfectly and delivered valuable data to a valued customer.

Welcome to the team Pip, and great job!

Merry Christmas to our founder Justin. Somehow he was able to get the next several days off of work, which as you can see he’s quite happy about. 😊🎄

He’s taking a week off from flying for the airlines and has a couple days of drone mapping lined-up for him after the holiday ...weather permitting ❄️💨.

Rest-up Justin 😉😴

Merry Christmas to all !

Over the last few days we’ve operated drones at or near multiple airports here in Northern NV which required a healthy amount of pre-planning and coordination. We’ve been out gathering data for a client’s software package and enjoying the great weather!

Stay healthy y’all

P.S. I think we just got photobombed by a NHP Trooper?

Welcome aboard Philip! Our oldest son received his FAA drone certificate and is the third member of our family to be out ‘wiggling sticks’.

Philip attends UNR on a full-time basis and is now able to help-out Aerial Nevada LLC on the side.

“Pip” is seen here recovering a drone during a Stock Piles flight at a local quarry earlier today.

Welcome to the drone world Philip 👍

We’ve been spending some time at the airport lately. Well, we’ve worked at airports for the last 20 years flying helicopters and airplanes but lately we have been at airports with a drone testing a client’s software.

Ironically operating a drone at/near an airport requires waaaay more coordination and planning than operating a helicopter or even a jet near an airport.

Out in the desert again testing software. Happy Weekend!

Out-on-the-town this evening with our youngest son. Three of the four of us are FAA certificated drone operators, maybe this guy will the the fourth ?

We spent the evening flying some test-runs with a drone helping to prove a conceptual software product for an aviation firm.

Aerial Nevada LLC: slowly but surely adding to its resume

Happy Labor Day !!!!!

P.S. it was hot this evening 🔥

Good afternoon from our newly acquired Mobile Launch Pad !

Aerial Nevada often has drone projects way out in the middle of nowhere, some taking several days or nights to complete without a hotel nearby. With our new tent/flatbed trailer we can remain on-site for an extended prior of time and do what we do best: provide high quality 2D, 3D and Thermal/Infrared mapping .

Out “enjoying” the 100 degree heat calculating the volume (cubic yards) of Stock Piles

Good News: it was 100 degrees and a warm battery will typically provide us with an extra minute or two of flight time

Bad News: it was 100 degrees

Stock Pile inventories? Yep we do that

What does the remote desert look like at night from the air ?

Two images we collected from waaaay out in the desert near a job site at around 3 am with an Infrared/Thermal Drone. "way out in the desert" meaning: nearly an hour on dirt roads in 4WD on our ATV, hundreds of miles from the closest city.

The first image was taken from several hundred feet in the air.

The lighter (warmer) contouring is bare soil and the contrasting darker areas are cooler Sage Bush.

What is that lone white spot in the upper right ? That white spot is heat being emitted from a small portable generator in the back of our ATV.

The second photo was taken much closer to the ground.

Circled in Orange is the running generator and the heat from the generator being reflected off of a spare tire

Red: a cooling but still warm ATV engine.

Blue: a charging drone battery

Green: Me. Check out my shoes- they are leaking heat!
My un-covered hands are white-hot.

I'm wearing two sweatshirts which are darker than
the jeans I have on indicating that my upper torso
is better insulated than my lower half.....it was cold
out there at 3 am!!

Data collection in an extremely remote area at night using Infrared Technology? Yep, Aerial Nevada does that too !

Stock Pile Inventories
2D/3D mapping and modeling
And now, Infrared Aerial Survey and mapping
